I went from an '07 Si - to an '08 Fit Sport 5-Speed Manual, which is DBW as well... and the car (Fit) drives like you would expect it to - feels natural. If you've never driven a Honda Fit manual - they are a dream, and super fun.

I never completely got used to the Si's rev hang, and was REALLY hoping that Honda had fixed it by now. I loved everything about my Si except for the 3rd gear and Rev Hang issues. I convinced myself that it must be an early production-year issue, and that near the end of the model, it would be fixed.

Perhaps I just don't understand the plus side of the hang - but I've just never ran into any othe car that has it. If you drive several cars - several manual transmission cars...you don't get used to it.

My guess is that it must be something to do with emissions. You might want to consider getting FlashPro which will totally and completely get rid of the rev hang that's the result of the injectors being left on longer than they should be. There's lots of other benefits to FlashPro that more than make it worth the money.

You'll have to pull the bulletin up and take your car in with it. Read up on it at 8th and you can always call Honda about it. Refer to the first page of this thread.

I have a question on Reflashing. I brought my 07 Fa5 in because I threw P2610. They told me It wouldn't cost anything unless I voided warranty somehow. I go to pick up my car and they charge me 75 dollar fee because they said honda wont pay for software updates under warranty and that honda will not replace the ECU unless it has the most updated software and still throws the code. I asked If next month it throws the same code will they refund my 75 dollars since the software wasn't the problem and he said NO.

Is it true that honda wont update the ECU even if thats the reason the CEL is on?

Im going to be calling honda customer service on monday.

I just made an appointment with my dealership today, unfortunately my car is a 2007, and experiences the described rev hang and surge, they told me since it's a bulletin, I have to pay for it. What the **** is that ****? I don't think I should have to pay them, to plug my car in and update it. My appointment is on Wednesday, so we will see how well they take me telling them I am not paying for a 30 minute plug and play operation. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

09 civic si

hey guys,

I have an 09 Si, so from what I read on this thread, my car came equipped with the reflash from the factory. Unfortunately, my car still kind of bucks in the cold (and I can hear residual waviness in the engine for a few minutes after it has warmed up). It also shows a little bit of rev hang, though I suppose I have adjusted to it a little. I have an all stock engine, so do you think that buying Flashpro and tuning it to undo the rev hang and some of the bucking would be worth it? And then I would also have to adjust for any knock that may develop, correct? I'm a bit a noob when it comes to working on cars so I think I would need a professional to tune it for me, but your opinions would help.

I just bought a used 2006 Civic Si. Black on black . I notice when I pop the car into second gear, it surges as if I was stepping down the gas (even though I'm not). Will this flash resolve that issue? Also, since the car is out of warrenty, would the dealership still cover it?

Thanks.

Eh, mine does that too, and I have the rev hang issue. Try giving it a bit more gas to see if you can smooth it out. If not, you might have it checked out.

UPDATE on last post. I took it in to my honda dealership, nice guy (surprisingly) said he found nothing as far as a reflash for any civics (might have been BS) as far as the Si goes. He even ran my VIN. He said if I did want to do a voluntary reflash, provided the data was there, to which he said he won't know 100% until the car is hooked up - and from there, if it is, the reflash will be free. Provided I pay the 80$ for hooking it up in the first place =/

I politely declined. haha.

i tried calling 2 dealerships today. one guy told me $97 to do it and the other had no clue what i was talking about and then proceeded to tell me i was making it up cause i read it on the internet. i have held multiple honda HP records, had my own performance shop and have done the dealership thing for quite a few years. i have no clue. time to call honda directly and skip the dealership

I see the reflash as Honda confirming a design flaw. Something like that should be fixed for free no matter the age or warranty status of the car. It's really a moot point for me now anyway. I should have my tax refund next week and I'm just going to get the Honda reflash to compliment my I/H/E. Kill 2 birds with one stone.
