I have to agree. I have an 08 Si sedan. Before I put in the drop in K&N air filter, the bucking in the cold is extremely noticeable if your too high of an rpm. I just shift faster in the cold and you can't notice it anymore. HOweever. AFter I added the K&N, such a big difference, and the car feels and breathes so much better.

Also, I do have the same problem with fast shifting and gears grinding from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Pretty annoying especially when your clutch IS all the way down.

i just got this update and it seems to have helped my car... just runs better and feels more responsive. just might be my mindset... but my car feels alot better.

Is it possible that this update may have been applied before sale, or could it only be so if the car was purchased and the owner complained about it? My '07 FA5 Si is in the affected range, but I haven't really seen the issues. Other than a little morning bucking while the car is still cold (which I've attributed to the Si's 11:1 compression ratio on a cold engine), it's been fine. The car was a "leftover" - it was nearly time for the '09's to come out when I got it, ample time for the reflash to have been applied.

Honda in Marietta Ga. did it with no questions asked....plus replaced the 3rd gear problem as well.....

2oo9 Rev Hang

I've been a proud owner of a 1991 Si Hatchback since it was born, (first owner) What a great car it has been! Good performance, Excellent gas mileage, Easy maintenance, Almost no repairs. Whats not to love?

Well I just couldn't hold back any longer. I just took delivery of a 2009 Si Coupe. It's a sweet car but--- Like many of you, I would like to eliminate or minimize the rev hang. When I get off the gas it almost acts as if it had one of those huge John Deere flywheels. The RPM's do take a long time to drop.

I haven't seen any solution for the 2009s here. Anybody know of one, or do I just wait and hope?

I have found that I get used to it and it makes upshifts a whole lot smoother and easier. All it comes down to is relearning your gas/clutch/shifter coordination. Where I could see this being a problem is if you go back and fourth between a DBW throttle car and a cable actuated throttle since timing is different. I found this when I hopped back in my brother's '00 Accord (which used to be mine) and the throttle acted "funny" and I couldn't drive it nearly as well as I could my Si.

Seems my 08 FG2 doesn't fit into any of the TSBs, which is good I suppose, still want to get rid of my rev hang.

i went to the dealer today and i ask the guy if the update was covered under warrenty he said yeah until he asked me if i had any mods i told him i had an intake but i didnt tell him i had an exhuast so said he would charge me $95 for the HDS update because i have mods on my car and that wasnt covered!!! comments greatly appreciated

I must be the only one in this forum who doesn't mind the rev hang.
Perhaps it's because mine only holds for a second or so,i find it makes upshifting smoother.

A couple people who don't have alot of experience driving standard drove my car and said it was the so much smoother than theirs and easier to drive,no bucking or shaking(?)

That's absolute B friggin S! No way the dealer should charge you anything for the update! You either need the update because Honda changed the software after your car left the factory/dealership or your car already came with the update. It doesn't matter if you have a nitrous injected twin turbocharged K20Z3! Unless your modifications have made it harder than stock for the dealership to perform the update there is NO WAY they should be scamming you for any sort of $$! If you already paid your $95, I would go back and speak with the manager and demand a refund and if you get any trouble, go directly to Honda and expose this dealership as a fraud! In the future go somewhere else with your business and tell everyone else to avoid this dealership.

I won't knock you for not reading the thread since that was your first post.

2008s came from the factory with the new software and therefore don't need any sort of reflash (update).

BACKGROUND INFO: Some customers may notice the engine RPM does not immediately drop when shifting gears and/or the vehicle surges when driving in 1st gear.

Basically the last 8 of the VIN are all that matters. My car doesnt fall in this range so thats why its not a problem for me. The way that its written is that this will IMPROVE but not eliminate the characteristics in the background informaion.

The bulletin # is 06-052. The operation code is 125517 and it should take about 1/2 an hour to an hour total. You dont need to leave your car there overnight or anything. Its not brain surgery.

So if you're in that affected range, make an appointment to your dealer and get it done.

is this the same thin for canadian cars ,could we go to are dealers and ask them to do that ..? and is it the same thing for the 3rd gear issue for canadien cars ..? thanks ....

I had my '06 Si done, well i took it in for an oil change and after the guy's at honda told me that they also did the update..... i would have to say the responsiveness of my SI has been noticeable, seems to work like it should..... I haven't noticed much in the way of fuel economy gain..... I mean i was getting 30 mpg before and after..... but i would say there might have been at most a .2 mpg gain.... Not saying others wouldn't gain mpg....
