Honda Reflash and Hondata are two different things.

Honda Reflash is only for not updated ECU Si's.

Yeah I just got my reflash done today and my car drives a million times better. Whwn I took mine to the dealer they already knew what I needed as soon as I pulled in they were like rev hang they said they heard it when my foot hit the clutch. LOL

Just an update...I just bought an '08 Si Sedan last weekend...it's my first manual tranny. Mine still has the rev hang...but it's only really a problem shifting from first to second. I do NOT have surging in first gear however.

At first I thought the problem was just my driving ability...because I had read months ago about the issues w/the '06's, but I thought the problem had been fixed.

Well...it hasn't been fixed. It's still an issue w/my '08.

Sh*t...I fall in the range, but that's a good thing to know about because I've alway wondered why the 1st gear was so jerky. It's like the car is bucking on 1st and 2nd when I take off from a stop usually in the mornings when I just started her up.

Edit:

Got the reflash done this morning, drives nicer - 1st gear doesn't surge at all or as much now

However the service manager informed me personally and on paper that this reflash will only reduce and improve the problem - not eliminate it! Better than nothing though.

Does this apply to 08 SI Sedans because I have the same problems? I know it says 06, but I experience the same thing. Has anyone got an 08 reflashed?

i test drove an 08 sedan two days ago and IMMEDIATELY noticed this problem. i had the same issue in my old srt-4 a couple of years ago but they were just calling that 'normal.' this is definitely worse than my neon, though. the best way i can describe it is like a lag between what your foot is doing and what the engine is doing. its bad. not undrivable bad but annoying enough.

hopefully when i take delivery of my car next week it will not have the same problem...

All Si's, all years up to date have the problem. From what I've read the MY2006 was the worst. That's why Honda had a TSB (factory reflash) on the '06 if you fell in a certain vin range. The '07-'08 supposedly have the new program but my '08 still suffers from rev-hang.

07-08 are pretty okay you should try a 2006 Si you will kill yourself and won't feel all bad after all. I took it to the dealer they say that they did the reflash but after I test it out I feel the same response as before. For me isn't something that is critical but is very annoying.

And yes I drove 07 Si and there is no way that they cab be compared to the 2006 problem.

Two different things. Honda reflash corrects the '06 rev hang. Hondata's reflash is a performance based mod....lowers vtec engagement to 4500 or 4600rpm and raises the redline to 8600 rpm.

Based on Hondata, you need to have at least a intake or header to maximize the reflash.

You won't be needing a reflash from Honda. You might want to get the Hondata Reflash though.

I thought I read that intakes did little for Si's....does that mean that if you get an intake, you might as well get reflashed?

X's intake has proven to be a very effective mod.

Hondata says you need to have at least an intake or header to maximize their performance reflash.
