Keep us posted on the outcome of your discussion with the dealer. I will be contacting my local Honda dealer to issue a complaint. I need to understand why on earth Honda would want to develop a sporty car with this rev-hanging mannerism. It is fine it you are putting around town. It isn't fine for a performance driving. If I wanted this type of driving experience, I would have purchased an auto tranmission car....

Yes, keep us posted.

I think it's the opposite though. While "performance driving" the rev-hang is not quite a factor, for me at least. I'm just shifting too fast to notice. It's the routine, daily, putting around town is where it get's annoying.

I'm surprised to hear this throttle thing being called a "problem". It can't be anything more than the behavior that Honda decided to program into the injection computer. There isn't even any mechanical linkage to blame it on; the gas pedal's only connection to the car is via a potentiometer, which has no lag whatsoever.

Second thought: the slow decay in RPM after throttle-lift could be something Honda thought was necessary, either because of emissions or some sort of engine-performance thing (roughness? backfires?). But my money's on this being something Honda decided to do, because it makes it easier to shift quickly.

There is a problem. Honda recognized it and put out a TSB for the '06 models that fell in a vin range. It still appears in the '07 and '08 models as well. At least my 2008 suffers from this. Maybe it was worse in 2006, don't know. I'm only aware of my rev-hang experience in my car and it's annoying.

Explain how the rev-hang feature makes it easier to shift quickly

Give them the TSB info. If your car falls in the vin range they have to fix it.

mattellis, unfortunately the 08 si, with a VIN including the 8H700xxx range that yours shares with mine is outside of the range where the dealer will perform a reflash. We're stuck with it until Honda decides to issue an update to the TDB or issue a new TSB

Yeah, maybe you're right, it probably doesn't help quicker shifting. I just have the impression that I sometimes need to hold some throttle on my RX-7 for easier shifting. Maybe it's actually when I'm doing more sedate driving; if I'm taking too long to get it into the next gear, the Rs have dropped too much and I need to add throttle to match RPMs.

Ok, I'm not really sure.

I think I'm in the same boat as jrlarson 8h7015 and I am getting the rev hang as well. Why would honda only be willing to reflash certain vehicles? If it effects one wouldn't it affect all???

Supposedly the "fix" is already performed from the factory on 07's and 08's.

I see. If the 08's are fixed I would hate to see how bad they would be if they weren't.

No, its not to late.

You should call a dealer, and talk to a technican.

is honda's reflash and hondatta's reflash the same? or different? and if you do get a reflash without an intake or a header doesn't it lower your horse power?..
