GM Syncromesh Tranny Fluid

I am interested in changing my Tranny Fluid soon to the GM Syncromesh fluid. I have heard countless raves about this stuff from both Acurazine and S2ki. I just wanted to make sure this should be compatable with the Si, besides putting GM in a honda etc. I probably won't get around to changing this for a while but I will be sure to put up a detailed review when I get it done. And is there a DIY yet for this?

Here is a review on Azine

i was thinking the same thing, but when i told that to my friend (mechanic) he said that it wasn't good to use on new tranny's or something like that. not sure exactly what he meant but i know he's good and i'll stick to his advice.

After reading all the reviews I have this image in my head of it being a dream come true.

i put syncromesh in my old accords transmission cause it was having issues shifting and it cleared everything up, car shifted beautifully. I dont see why it would hurt to put it in a new transmission, but if you arent having issues with it i dont see why theres a need to change it.

NEVER put manual transmission fluid into an Automatic transmission.
Might as well put rear end fluid in it.

Personally, I wouldn't put GM Synchromess into my tranny. It's not the cure all off all ailments. What's wrong with the fluid that is in there now?

If I ever change the fluid which wont be for several years I will more than likely put in some Redline MTL which is hands down the best manual transmisson fluid out there. GM's stuff has a thicker base which may hide certain problems but will not help you in the performance of your transmission. I would say quite the contrary. But you can try it and let us know how you like it.

It's notchy. I'm willing to try anthing that will help. From the reviews I read on the snychomesh, I want to see if it helps. Maybe I'll check into redline before I buy it though. Need a few more days to reasearch.

I've been waiting until I get a few more miles on my tranny before doing the swap. I too have a notchy feel on 2nd gear. GM Syncromesh seems to work real good and a bunch of other people from many different car forums have used it and loved it.

I've heard of Redline MTL being good, but needing more frequent replacement intervals. Heard some good things about Amsoil, but haven't been able to research it.

So far I'm leaning towards the Syncromesh too, unless anyone here can convince me why I shouldn't.

i used the GM SM on my h22 when it was giving me problems shifting to 2nd and 5th (the syncros were bad) and it made it a lot easier. i wouldn't put it in a new tranny, but i would definitely put redline in when i decide to change my tranny fluid, like someone else said it's hands down the best manual tranny fluid u could put in ur tranny.

Does anyone think a different tranny fluid could effect our LSD?

That is the one though that crosses my mind that makes me want to stay with the oem fluid.

Thoughts?

It's possible. Plus thicker fluid and performance my suffer as well.
I will keep mine OEM. It seems to do the job and do it well.

is the transmission fluid in our Si's easy to change? Just wondering.

Also why are so many people have trouble with grinding gears?
Over the years I have driven may manuals and grinded a lot of gears on some crappy transmissions but this Si is the smoothest shifting transmission I have ever driven. I wonder if there were a lot of quality control issues with the tranny's or what's going on.

its pretty easy to change. it gives you a brief explanation of how to do it in your manual.

check it out, page 229.

Must be some serious quality issues going on with this car period!

Most Honda Manual gear boxes take 530-1030 reg motor oil..and if i'm not mistaken 06 are Motor oil ..Not Tranny fluid

U can put Synthetic oil in the Manual now that is 100% synth. instead of the semi BS... I look it up more Tomorrow in my ESM @ the Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
