Thumbs up Getting my 3rd gear fixed!!

Well, I own a 07 Si with about 20k miles on it..I've been havin the 3rd gear grind issues every once in a while. It's very annoyin and seems to happen whenever there is somebody in the car and it makes me look like I can't drive. There's no point in tryin to explain a third gear issue to a chick who knows nothin about cars..i've tried it..but anyway today I decided to get my oil changed so when I was at the dealer I mentioned to the service advisor that I had the 3rd gear issue. He was like yea there is a bulletin on that. So he said that they would change the tranny fluid. I was like damn in my head cuz I knew that would most likely only be a temporary solution. So when the tech came to take the car for a spin I hopped in too and we were tlkin. He was a real cool guy, he drives a RSX and knows all about the 3rd gear issue. So we were tlkin and I told him that I dont wanna be coming back for the same issue over and over. He was like yea and told me he would check the tsb and see if my vin fell in the range. I knew that it did. So after he changed my oil and brought the car back he told me that he ordered a new third gear set for me..Words can't really explain how happy I am..So in a few days I should be getting a call to drop off my car.

Here are some pics of my Si...

I might add that i also just had mine done last week, after a similar story to yours. I took the foreman on a drive and though I couldn't replicate it, I did explain very clearly what would happen on a daily basis, and brought up the question of the service bulletin. Then I just had to wait for parts, and the dealership took care of me.

I've put on about 800 miles since then and must say that my 3rd gear problems are *gone.* Car was in the dealership for 2 days.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

just a heads up, make sure they have all the parts before you drop off the car. It will make a two day job much longer if they don't. when i had my third gear fixed they ended up replacing fourth as well (fourth would pop out when the tech test drove the car after replacing third)but it is perfect now.

I just got mine done yesterday and YES finally there is a significant difference. It feels a lot smoother and i drove it for at least 60 miles yesterday and nothing! So far so good, i hope it stays good.

Also i noticed after getting my car back yesterday, it idles a little higher than usual even when warm. I remember it idling at .5k RMP now its somewhere in between .5k and 1k. And when idling it feels more shaky! anyone know if i'm hallucinating?

Good luck to everyone getting their 3rd gear fixed!

uhmm don't know why it shakes, and also when i put it in reverse now, i really have to step on it up like 2k - 2.5k to get the car moving, otherwise it feels like its gonna stall. I'm having it re-looked at on my next service!

I'm still waiting it's been two months for the B/O part they told me it's not in yet. Been to the dealer twice since May. I'm not sure how much longer I'll give it another month before I have to keep being a pest. The problem still happens every once in a while. Pretty annoying.
