there's probably 10% of drivers that know the difference or care anyways... I just say a civic and conversation ends. I could care less. I bought this car as a fun daily driver. No mods ever in the future, just cheap fun with a 6yr/100,000 mile warranty to boot!

Went into the f-in-law's country club last week.

Had my autocross paint on my scrappy Si. I walked in, and realized that I could afford some of those M3s in the lot, and maybe even some of the Benzs; definitely the Lexus and others. But who the feck cares? Those cars aren't driven the way they should be driven, sitting pristine in those lots. I played some golf, and went home with the satisfaction that I will always be a better driver, going head to head on a track or course, than those status-climbing tools.

F that.

It's just a car.

I'll be honest w/ people I show my ride to and basically tell them it's STILL a Civic but for a Civic this this is amazing!

I get the same thing from my WRX friends. They like to hate on a FF car because "it has no traction". Too bad they never learned about the massive HP loss in an AWD set-up.

Civics make great all around cars. You can blow by them in the 1/4 mile, shame them on road races, and still drive it to work.

well i hate to break it to you, but it is a Honda.

although i dont see that as negative in any way... mitsu as a company dreams to be even like a shadow of honda.

while every other company right now is closing doors and selling assets Honda is the only company with a 11% increase.

mitsue makes a cool EVO, but a joke as a car manufacturer. i can think of alot of other car makers that would be true to also.

honda makes the best engines in the world... from cars to planes to generators, you name it. if its got a motor in it honda makes it (maybe not everything, but at the moment i cant think of what they dont make)

there may be faster cars or better values, but non better. toyota maybe, but they dont make anything i would pay money for.

It's all perception. If you were in Japan, "just-a-honda" would be a compliment.

No matter what happens, you have to be happy with your car. People can say what they want but as long as you love it, nothing else matters.

There is a HUGE, I mean HUGEEEEEE difference between car enthusiasts and people who just like cars.

Enthusiats = not judgemental and respect all make and model

poeple who like cars = thinks anything V6 or above is god.....and know jack snit about cars.

Example: a friend of co-worker of mine that I started to play frisbee golf with made fun of my car...FA5. He said you drive a honda, I thought you had a better car.....long story short, he always wants to take my car.

I remember seeing him reach for the handle above the door as I proceeded to my 8K rpms.

just got to brush it all off fellas...take the good with the bad...not everyone is going to like hondas the same way i think a majority of the v8 cars are jokes just use the statement "they cant make it better so they made it bigger" that usually shuts the majority of the haters up

A fat gangster kid who is known as the "hamburgler"...he got caught stealing a hamburger in school haha...well anyway he was i think a 91 altima and everytime I see him he starts **** with me calling me new si a pos ...and tells me the car has a turbo and alll this crap. Two sides to this.
1) Well first of all many people hate on the civic (hondas in general) because they are the only ones that stick around long enough to be hated on. You see all these little riced out hondas from like 1980 something and still going strong. Some people are just ignorant. I mean i love my SI. I could of gotten something more high class, but didn't want to. I bet that a lot of us here are not just driving a CIVIC just cuz its simply affordable, but because its much more. Every time i'm driving and spot another Si i look at it like if it was the first time "daaamnn" it looks nice. And people who drive it, are more into the car than just worrying about hating.

2)And well after all it is a CIVIC. Some of us are at fault and drive our car like if it was a $50,000 investment. A lot of us civic (si) owners are just much of haters and hypocrites as anybody else. We are just as picky as everyone else. And drive our cars as bad as anyone else. Look at how we dislike the TC and TC owners, how we always see threads poping out on other cars but instead of giving them respect we are quick to bash on them.

In conclusion yes it is just a Honda (civic) but to some of us is much more. Its stupid to say that and is also stupid to worry about it. If i drove a beemer, i wouldn't feel like i feel when i see another si if i were to see another beemer and thats wat matters to me.

Reminds me of the times people told me my 1995 Infinity G20 is "just a Sentra" (it's not).

As a side note, my G20 (at nearly 150k miles) still has better paint, fewer rattles, and a less worn interior than my 2007 Si!

Well I own a much newer 1996 model E36 and have driven a fair share of E30's too.
