Servicing your Si

Hello guys, I searched but couldn't come up with the answers I needed.

So here are a few questions:

1. When to do the 1st oil change?
Dealer said at 15% on the oil life, should I do it early?

2. At what miles are the servicing?
Like 'Service B' and such.

3. MPG My first tank was about 22.5 MPG....I only had about 400miles at the time. When can I expect my fuel economy to pick up?

4. VTEC
I love it

1. when oil meter says 5%, just do it when your car tells you to
2. oil change depends on the meter
3. roughly 1000 mi + and you will expect better FE
4. it's ivtec, not vtec.

15% on the meter is the target, but you can always do it when you think it should be changed. I did it at 40% since the oil level went down the first 1000 miles.

On the highway, you should see around 28+ MPG. On the street or stop and go around 24+.

I got a notice in the mail from Honda that they wanted to do it at 3750 miles. I did it at 3000 since I'll be driving to California next week.

I'm at 2600 miles and the oil life is at 70%. Shouldn't it be at least a little lower? I can never remember, is it important to get the oil changed a bit sooner for the first change? I checked the oil the other weekend and it was a little above the bottom mark.

It depends on how much RPM you use. The higher RPM the faster the percentage will go down.

1. Do it whenever you'd like. IMO if your switching to synthetic, try to leave the factory fill in for as close to 5K miles as you can. That should be somewhere around 15%. Mine was like 30% or something but that's cause I do a lotta HW driving. If you're just gonna let them do it, you can probably just wait. I mean it really depends on how you drive your car, but the meter should be a good judge.

2. All of this is in your manual RTFM.

3. You should see your MPG increase fill up by fill up. My first was horrible too lol.

4. I do too, but only started loving it after break-in lol. (not to open a can of worms).

It depends how you drive. I would guess you've been doing a lot of highway, constant RPM driving... You do not need to get your oil changed sooner the first change, but I would go buy some Havoline and top it up to the top dot until you go get it changed.
