Gum!

I have a civic Si...anyways, I have "chewing gum" on the drivers side of my door/panel...apparently, i was driving and there was gum on the road and it got all over my tire. So, the wind kinda pushed it to the side door/panel and now...

I'm wondering how to get it off! Any help will be appreciated...

Thanks!

Oh, and i did a search thru the threads and i couldn't find any "gum" threads or how to remove gum on car paint...so i just made a new one.

I had this happen by what I will presume was a "hater". It was from the front right fender (where the sidemarker would go) stretched all the way down to to back bumper. It took me hours to clean up.

First I waited for a cool day, because it was august last year, and it was hella hot. Then I washed the car with soap and water, like normal, but used one of those wash mits and some serious elbow grease. I let the car air dry and continued to attempt to get the gum off. I used meguires quick detailer and a few terry cloth towels. You have to pretty much saturate the towel so the gum comes off easier. Then I clay barred the entire car. Like I said, it took a few hours, but I also had it on the entire right side of my car.

Best of luck. Let me know if u need more help

Yeah its a pain, but I enjoy washing my car. Its my way of relaxing. THis is the hardest time of year (here in NJ at least) to wash on the regular cuz of the heat. Because if the paint is hot, its harder to wash. (hazing and etc) For instance, I got home late last night and didnt go in the garage, so I was outside at 6am washing my car this morning, so i could beat the heat lol.

but maybe u rubbed it the wrong way!? hahahaha.. jk

if it makes u feel better you can pay 5 more dollars to get the automotive goo gone that;s safe for paint (it says on the bottle) but it's the exact same thing..

I'd try a non-chemical solution and elbow grease first. I've used bug and tar remover before, and that worked well and it didn't seem to hurt the paint, but it still makes me nervous.
