Should I trade in my MS3 for an Si?

Hi guys, this is my second post here...

After test driving the Si today, I'm seriously letting my 08 MS3 go and get me an Si sedan....I've own 3 hondas before...91 prelude, 99 civic, and 02 base rsx...I've always love honda but six months ago, i thought i needed a change and get me something with a lot of tourque and power. The MS3 had it for a good affordable price. My mistake was when i was shopping for a car, i didnt even test drove the Si because i knew it lacks torque so i didnt even bother...

I was at the dealership today because my wife is considering a civic hybrid...and i test drove the Si just for the hell of it...and i was like wow... i love the interior, the sits, and the shifter and clutch feels so silky smooth...I love the engines refine acceleration and Vtec sounds and feels freakin awesome...
I think i like it better than the MS3's turbo whooshh and pssshh sound..

In addition, I average 19-21 miles to the gallon with my ms3 and this is driving not too agressive and about 60% of the time, im not boosting..And with the Si, i could probably average about 25-28 MPG 50/50 street and highway..I think Im gonna have a lot of fun in the Si in a practical and safer way..

I know im gonna get some biased answer here and im gonna go ahead and ask you guys what you think?

I think you're going to get some very mixed answers. the only advice I have is go with whatever car makes you happier and you find more practical.

lol i think your biggest mistake was not test driving the Si. Now if after you drove it you fell in love with it, then you should go for it. Just make sure its not an other case of the grass being greener on the other side!

You are gonna get raped on trade. I say keep what you have for 2 more years. In M.Y. 2011 the civic will be all new. Wait it out.

I wouldve gotten the MS3 if I was thinking about power.

Couldn't make me buy a Ford, ever. Last one choked, leaking.... yadda yadda, opinions about brands blah blah blah.

Personally, if you want power, I think the Mitsu and Subie is the way to go; if you want to sacrifice a bit of performance (not much, really, guys), then the Civic is a really good, economical (for its class), inexpensive (relative to the other cars in its class), and a fun-to-drive option. Just a smarter buy, all around.

Stick with the car you have. You're going to end up paying 35 grand for a Civic or something rediculous. Take it from someone who paid 25 grand for a Spec-V, pay your car off, sell it, then get what you want. You made the decision it's something you have to live with. In the long run it costs you less money and is better for your financial well being.

yeah i expect the dealer to rape me on the trade so im gonna try to sell my ms3 to a private party... this is really killing me... the MS3's ridiculous power is nice...but i came to realize that its not all about power (i dont race ) its about the overall feel of the car and being practical while having fun.....

I think im gonna join the honda family once again, just need to find a buyer for my ms3 lol

really you think the subie's make alot of power? the ms3 dusts the wrx, and it will hang with an STI from a roll, and after some small bolt ons the ms3 will start to pull on a STI above 80.

but yea keep the ms3, i know they have pretty well resale value, a buddy of mine traded his in and bought an rx-8 he only lost like 1500 in neg. equity

The performance of the MS3 is really alot more than the SI, dont be a fanboi, but to the OP wait about 2years if you want to trade in or sell it on your own to get the most money.

hmmm i dont see the MS3 as a Ford...... its 100% made in Japan....and its production team and parts has nothing to do with Ford...now if you're talking about mazda tribute and other mazdas..yeah its a Ford...

Evo and Sti's are cost $12 grand more than the MS3 so I passed...

The Si is one of the most sought after cars now because of the economy. Dealers are giving people the shaft for em. Some guy wanted to buy my Si for 21.5k on craigslist because of this too. he said the dealer was rediculous and he was having to wait. but maybe thats just in my area. I love my si and was wanting something different with more HP but Im starting to understand what I have here.

It's up to you bro!! If you need the extra power, keep the MS3! But if you're considering getting the Si as a DD, good gas mileage, and reliability, get a Si sedan! :)

yea well i know someone who works at our mazda dealer, and they were selling the speeds above sticker when they first came out, and they were selling like hot cakes but after like december sales just started to decline. i believe they have 4 black 2 silver and 1 red speed3 on their lot now

but they are offering invoice pricing on them now, so im guessing all 7 will be gone in about 4-6 weeks

I was in your exact same position. But i had more options.....my options were a MS3, SRT-4 (Neon), Evo IX or X, or a WRX (not an STi) or the Si. I went with the Si because it was much affordable, and at the time, i didn't really think about gas mileage, until a couple days later. I made the decision of getting my Si Sedan, it may not have as much power as all those turbo'd cars, but it sure damn has power as a 4 cylinder straight motor. Within a year or two, i'm going to be turbo'ing my Si, hopefully.....IMO i say get the Si Sedan, you'll be a lot more happier, due to gas prices. The Si Sedan, will save you a lot more money than you think.

I have to echo the other comments, if it's that new, you're going to take a bath on it if you trade it in now. Unless you got an absolutely smoking deal on it to begin with.
