anytime, I would imagine if went any higher I would start to notice a significant drain on the battery which would cause the Hybrid batteries to work harder and thus decreasing the life of them. This of course would most likely cause the FE to drop and the car to start having issues. But I'm unsure of this. Anyways a better battery just to ummm put my mind at ease. Good luck mang

I have over 2500 watts. 2 eclipse XA2000 amps, reworked for 750 watts each rms. eclipse EA4100 reworked for 250 watts per channel rms. 2 Image Dynamics IDmax 12d2 subs, sealed enclosure with acoustic fiberglass matte for standing wave damping. Vifa made Eclipse 8070 7 inch midbass drivers in each door, Morel MT-23 23mm tweeters cut into the A-pillars. 500 watts per corner in the front. Eclipse AVN6620 navigation based source unit with 5volt preouts. Second Skin Damplifier Pro sound damping, in 2 layers, throught the vehicle. Total weight is over 400 pounds.

I don't have battery issues... at all. The only time I notice significant drain is when the outside temp is over 100F. Then the batteries don't like to charge. Other than that, I dont' notice anything.

my build

SuperJay: that is exactly the kind of example I am looking for. Thanks!

Did you upgrade the hood battery or use any capacitors? Do you have any more pictures of your trunk, that show how you laid out your amps and subs? Did you leverage the spare tire well at all (since it seems unusable based on the photos)?

I really don't have access to my spare. Ihave AAA. I left it in for rear end collision protection.

I also didn't upgrade the battery. I did however, upgrade the wiring under my hood. I changed the battery to chassis ground to 1/0, the engine to chassis ground to 1/0 and the positive from the charging system to the battery to 1/0. This was the first thing I did and I noticed a 10% increase in gas mileage, and better performance. Seriously.

I have 1/0 waire running under the car, drilled in through the spare well to a distribution block, and from there to the amps.

The entire car is covered in 2 layers of Second Skin Damplifier Pro (and Dynamat where I ran out of damplifier)

I don't believe in using caps in a system. Those are just band-aids to electrical errors. If you do the wiring right the first time you won't need one.

I built the box to spec for the 2 IDmax 12D2's that I'm using, bolted it to the chassis, and siliconed it to the floor of th etrunk after that. The amp rack is bolted to the box, wires run through the sides of the rack and then built 3 cover panels to the contours of the trunk.

Depending on where you are, I may have friends who own or work at shops there who can help you with the really invasive stuff.

Jay

Awesome build man, I drive an 06 civic hybrid and would totally love a setup like yours. Your wiring upgrade sounds most interesting to me right now. I live in the San Francisco bay area. Do you have any contacts who can assist me with these conversions?

Thanks!

i would not worry about putting a system in your hybrid. i have an 06 hybrid and i put an indash, 2 headrest monitors, running a mini ps2 in the glovebox, 2 amp and 2 10" subs in the trunk. i did put an additional yellowtop in the truck in hopes of not creating any problems with the regular charging system. but ive had all this stuff done back in 06 and havent had any problems yet. i would just recommend telling your shop not to cut any or any wires in the process. to rewire anything necessarry without cutting anything that already comes with the car. good luck.
