How much current does said amp pull? Look @ the fuses in the side/bottom of the amp and add them all up. That's the maximum amount of current the amp can pull a split second before the fuses blow.
I would say it's ok to hook up to rear batteries(If they're 12 volt batteries...) if it pulls less than about 30 amps. Anything larger and I'd like to see an 8ga or larger wire run to the front battery. If it's quite a bit more than 60 amps I'd run a 4ga from the front battery. The rear batteries are +12V, correct? WHOA! I just noticed how old this post is... |

DO NOT HOOK UP AN AMP TO THE REAR BATTERY!!!
The rear battery is in the 150V to 160V range depending on the year of your hybrid. You will see lots of "magic white smoke" if you try to run any 12V amp, deck, radar detector, etc off this battery.
You are stuck with running power wires from the 12V battery under the hood. Mike |
