Thanks Robegul . . I think I had read about a Civic Hybrid firmware update being available in another post somewhere online, but the person said that it didn't really get rid of the problem. Is your experience similar? Sounds like a bandaid to a more serious problem. Firmware updates will likely change certain aspects of the drivetrain to reduce the chances of the problem occuring, but not repair the problem. Nonetheless, I would want it applied to see what happens. The car may already have the newest firmware since it was purchased only a few months ago, but I have no idea. The issue rarely happens with our Civic so maybe it does?

thanks

Thanks! I Will absolutely contact my dealer with this info. Any additional info you can provide would be helpful, such as update name and/or date of release. Failing that, would you be willing to provide the name of the dealership and/or the mechanics name?

Thanks...

Angry Bucking 08

I have 3700 miles on my 08 Civic Hybrid. On seven different occasions I have experienced bucking/surging accelerating between 10-40 mph moderately. It didn't feel like the transmission hunting, it felt like the engine was starving? I have noticed the tachometer fluctuate @ the same time. I have taken it into my Honda dealer twice. The can find nothing wrong with it. There are no software updates available for the PCM. I was told to keep driving it until something breaks. I also experience a burning rubber smell after driving up and down twisty roads.
I just bought the Honda Care Extended Warranty.
Good Luck!

Mike
