Defroster Hack for HCH-II?

A friend just bought an '08 HCH and we are trying to hack the defrost function for manual control of the A/C compressor. I did this to my '07 - it works fine - but cannot find my notes, which I originally found on the web. However, no joy this time.

The HCH climate control is different than the "analog" system on the 8th-gens. The hacks on this site (and others) don't work since the buttons are different.

Help!

Pardon my ignorance, but this is worth some clarification: Is the A/C on/off toggle switch defeated when the front defrost is toggled on?

You may be right. After sleeping on this, my original query might just be a mind fart. I had a non-HCH 8th-gen for a while and might be remembering that one and not what I'm driving now.

I'll post after confirming.

Confirmed: mind fart. The HCH-II does not have a hack because it doesn't need one. Turn off A/C with defrost with the A/C on/off button.
