Anyone do their taxes yet for the Hybid Tax Credit?

Looking for what type of paperwork I need to supply to the IRS other than form 8910. Purchase contract? ONe website said something about proving certification for something. I'm confused. I just sold my hybrid 2 days ago but I was the original owner/purchaser and am trying to get my ducks in a row so to speak so I can claim the credit. I don't have the window sticker anymore, or the registration. I may be able to get them back from the dealer that I traded the car in at. But, if someone here has already done their taxes and could tell me exactly what is necessary, I would be so thankful!

Dave

I use taxact online to do my taxes and it is a free service. All you need is the date you put your car in service (the date you bought it) and that is about it. You just fill out the worksheet online. It is a question and answer format. It is really simple.

Dave,

The only time you would need any addtional documentation would me in the event of an IRS audit. Otherwise just filling out the information on the form will be enough to claim the credit

If you purchased your Hybrid this year, your max. tax credit is $1,050.00

That is the max. as long as it is purchased by June 30, 2008.

If one is purchased from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2008 the credit is $575.00

As of 1/1/2009, there is no credit for buying a Honda Hybrid.

Information came from - Honda Hybrid Begins Phase-Out on January 1

Just remember that you had to buy the car new.
YOu must be purchasing the vechicle not leasing.

Any more questions, just ask
