Driving on snow & ice with stock tires

Hello,

I have had my 07 hybrid for about 4 months now and I love it. I am going to be going to Colorado in a week and was wondering what people's experience is with driving in ice and snow with the stock low rolling resistance tires. Since it is just for a vacation, I can't justify snow tires or chains or anything, but was curious as to what to expect. Thanks for any input.

P.S. - I just installed a new system, so I will get pictures up pretty soon. I put a JL Audio 10" sub in a custom box in the trunk, replaced the front speakers with a pair of Focal 165KF's and got a JBL GTO754II amp to power it all. They took out the rear speakers to let the bass in since there is the battery pack in the way of the sound, and they custom molded the tweeters into the A pillar for better staging. It sounds amazing, and in case anyone was wondering, no I have noticed any difference in gas mileage.

Never noticed anything worse about this car than any other small FWD car on snow.

Tire rack rates our (dunlopsp31) tires pretty horrible. However in the dry they are supposed to be decent.
If you have these tires you should think about investing in a set of dedicated snow tires .

while its not worth swapping for just a week. i got snow tires for the first itme in my life this year and with the few times i've had them in snow and ice, they are really awesome. It puts the fun back into driving in crappy weather.

No complaints from me. The stock tires do reasonably well. In fact, I can climb slippery hills with the tires and the CVT. Driving in serious Winter conditions isn't supposed to be fun.

They bl@w... be careful in the corners... the only thing they have going for them is they are skinny cut through the snow, but have no traction.

My brigestones worked pretty well last winter, but the roads had been cindered, so that made it easier. I did, however notice that the front left caliper liked to freeze up overnighjt.
