There are exceptions, I saw one article that absolutely loved the car, but that was the only one so far.

The Japanese market is NOT happy about this car. There will be people who buy it of course, but in general, they aren't really looking at it. Especially with standard gasoline engine cars here that already get 50+mpg.

This is a small relatively lightweight hybrid, it should be getting 70mpg+ to be really impressive IMO.
Lightweight?

Yes, that is why I used the term "relatively lightweight."

it's still a pointless car with no real use. I'm sure some people will buy it, but it won't be a huge seller.

I'm sure the Japanese will most likely develop an exclusive CR-Z "Si," and everyone's jaw
will drop like when the CT-R and Mugen RR came about in Japan...We'll have to see...

K.C.
really really needs a K20 variant in there. doesnt even have to be the K20Z3, some other itteration of it, like 175hp. it would sell like hotcakes just like when the FG2 was first introduced. I had to wait 4 months for my Si in 2006 and i couldnt even test drive one cuz they didnt have any in stock, let alone one in silver.

It needs to hit EPA 45mpg and get to 60 in 7s or less.

Because of IMA and all the batteries and BS, all the talk of a K20 variant ring hollow. What are the odds that this thing shares enough commonalities under the hood to make it something easily done?

ok say if the rumors are true and a type-R comes out with 200hp (150hp 1.5l motor + 50hp electric motor) and reasonably priced, with a stiffer suspension and it gets close to Si speeds, would you buy it?

No, it's still ugly.

If I did like the looks, and I was single, I might consider it, but still most likely wouldn't buy it. The car is utterly useless, it's like buying a Del Sol.

Not like the Si is fast. Why buy a two-seat anything if it can't beat an Si?

I'll save up for my used Elise.

Pretty easy to come by, actually. Not compared to a lot of cars, but it's the kind of car that people will get rid of when times are tight or they get a new toy. They're almost always well-maintained. The nice thing is that there's never a hurry to get one, so I have the advantage of patience and the Internet.

yeah the cheapest ones ive seen were just shy of $30,000 and those were for 2005, yeah they have low miles but that's an expensive lil car. not really made to be a DD.

Yeah, that's why I'd keep the Si, and garage the Lotus. I've been looking at 2006's. My wife has given me the greenlight, the only caveat is that I have to buy her a house with at least a two-car garage.

It's a little pricy, but you can't get into a more exclusive, cool-looking and great handling car for within $50K of that price (imo).

After looking at these real life pictures at different angles I have a new found like for the car. I think it looks great for a hybrid considering there is no 2 door hybrid available yet. Check it out in these pictures.....Honda CR-Z (2011) with pictures and wallpapers

I've always thought it good looking.

I just think it's pointless. 40mpg (at best) and handles and accelerates worse than my Si? Oh, and no backseat?

It's sad, because it could've been the hybrid to make those who loathe hybrids (me) actually consider one.

I think this is going to flop.. it looks like an ugly Scirocco. With 100 less hp.. fun.

Such a lame car.

Motor Trend: "the coupe jumps from rest and reaches 60 mph in 9 seconds flat." Yikes.

Slower and FAR worse fuel mileage than a TDI VW.. explain the appeal?

Explain how its slower than a TDI.

Have you ever driven one? Its fun, feels like it can loads of power. Then you realize the Sienna next to you is briskly passing you with ease. Sort of like most Honda's I guess.

Well, i guess this car is essentially a typical honda - Not the fastest, really awesome form of power (200 hybrid horses... for the rumoured type R version), and being different.

I still like it though.

Well, I have to say, in my OPINION, the car is even uglier in person than it is in pictures.

Gross.
