Dyno-proven HP/TQ gains on Civic Hybrid?

Hey, does anybody know of aftermarket mods that produce dyno-proven gains? I'm looking to increase power on my '06 with 64,000 miles. Maybe an intake, throttle body, or reflash or something?

Good Luck.... LMAO,,,,, LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Sorry,,, There really is nothing worth a darn to help the CVT mpg machine. Drive it for mpg or trade in on a EX 5MT or a Si. The CVT is not strong enough to stay on the TQ curve to start with. If you mod things. It will scatter the CVT and if it does hold together the mpg will go into the crapper.

Good Luck

Lol, thanks for the input. I had a feeling that was the case. Someone makes an intake for it but nobody has posted any credible dynos.

This engine is hopeless. As soon as the California carpool lane stickers expire at the end of the year, I'm dumping it for whatever I can get.

My weekend car makes 4x the power and during the week I feel like I'm riding on an anorexic donkey.

The only aftermarket piece offered online you'll find is an intake. Exhaust would have to be custom built and there is no market for any software.

I'm sorry, I don't get this reasoning. Since it's the slowest Civic that Honda sells, it is the one in greatest need of more power. It's almost more of a necessity to mod this thing to have 15 more horsepower than it is to try to add the same to an Si which is already plenty adequate.

I'm not out to race anyone. I just want to keep up with traffic when I merge. 0-60 in 13+ seconds is frustrating and dangerous when trying to match speed with cars going 75+. I drive something much more powerful when there isn't any traffic. The only reason I own this car is because it has solo carpool access in the state of CA until the end of 2010.

If carpool lane access is the only reason you drive it then your SOL to put it mildly.

There are somewhat faster hybrids and even quicker ones coming but I think CA no longer gives out lane access stickers right?

Yup, my mom has a second-gen Prius and that has way more torque. 0-60 in 11 instead of 13. LOL. The third-gen one will do it in 9.8. Unfortunately, like you said, they no longer give out stickers and the ones that they did issue all expire at the end of the year.

It may just be me but I think the car is much weaker than a new Civic Hybrid. I've driven an '07 and it seemed to be a bit faster. The battery functions pretty normally, but it seems to not have as much torque as a new Civic Hybrid after ~65k miles. Maybe the '06 cars are slightly slower than the newer ones since they were the first model year, or maybe mine is just worn out.

I'm going to get the latest CVT/IMA software TSB done today. Maybe that will help a little...

There was a software update for civic hybrids done sometime in late 07. I was a PCM update that modifies the engine assist management software. Basically increases the affinity of the car to use electric assist when the battery charge allows. That would mean more torque or at the least the sensation of going somewhere faster.

You can check with you dealer to see if there are any updates outstanding for you. If you do most services yourself or only go to the dealer and tell them to do X or replace Y they might not bother to update it for you.

Another option is to check this forum: http://www.greenhybrid.com/. Join and message user msantos. He was very in the know on these cars and provided much of the detailed information. He would the one to ask.

Instead of trying to add more power, you should focus on MOAR MPGS! And stick to what hybrid owners do.... Piss people off. Jk/Jk. I had my Si with an intake header and exhaust and Cobb tuning, and achieved 40+ mpg on my standard route and definateley tried to piss people off so i could save gas. Save some bux and get another car in a year. If you do something else to your car like maybe a sweet stereo, then itll take yer focus away. Anyways, sorry but good luck.
