Depending on which kind you get, If you get those heavy ones (25lbs - 35lbs) it'll will affect your mileage enough to annoy you. I have a set of average weight aftermarket rims (18lbs - 22lbs) the hit on my mileage isn't enough to affect the overall cost of fuel in my case. There are lightweight aftermarket rims, some even weighing less then the current Hybrid rims. I'll only be keeping mine on for summers and switch back to the OEM rims for winters. Anyways check this site out for samples, weight etc etc

Depending on your location. In Canada (well in my area of Canada) we don't have those requirements. It would be annoying if they stamped that sticker on all Hybrids especially on those that won't be anywhere near an area that that has HOV lanes.

wow that is a really nice hybrid, JDM model makes me jealous. I don't understand why until the '09 model here in Canada we were so limited in color, interior and other options on the hybrid . Those rims and the eyelids look really good on your car. What other mods have you done to the car?

What kind of mileage are you getting after switching over to the 17s?

Since I got the 17" on the new car, and I've only got it for 8 days... I can't really tell you! Here in Holland most people don't buy a hybrid for the mileage. If it's a company car, you pay less taxes for a hybrid, significantly more than you can save on fuel !

I guess there isn't really any point in buying a hybrid in places outside north america unless you get big tax breaks like you got because in most places there are many diesel cars available that get better mileage than the civic hybrid or prius. I hear the civic diesel can kill the civic hybrid in terms of mileage.

My wife has an '07 Hybrid (we traded my '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee for it when gas started shooting up). It jerks because when you stop at a light or when stuck in traffic the gas engine shuts off. When you let go of the brake, the gas engine turns back on and accelerates the car, hence the jerk you were talking about. You get used to it after a while.

Does anyone know the weight of:
  1. Stock hybrid wheels and/or tires
  2. Stock Civic Si wheels and/or tires

I'd really like to throw some gunmetal Si wheels on my white 07 HCH..but trying to figure out what the weight diff will be and how much fuel efficiency I'm willing to give up. Anybody know of fitment issues with this set up?? If you have pics PLEASE post! Thanks!

The increased diameter of the rim + the increased rolling resistance due to wider tires needed for bigger rims will bring down your mileage more than weight unless the difference in weight is huge...like you putting dubs on your hybrid. Duk has 17' wheels on his hybrid and even though they are lighter than the stock hybrid wheels his mileage decreased. I switched mine to 16' CSX rims and my mileage dropped approx 3mpg but thats with tires that came stock on the CSX. You may want to consider low rolling resistance tires.

Heres a thread with stock wheel weights OEM Wheel Weight Revealed! but I dunno if they have the hybrid wheel weight on there you'll have to search the forums for that one. You will need 3mm spacers on the front to clear the brake caliper, rear has drum brakes so you may be fine without spacers.
