I use the cars display, my SGII and do hand calc's. Our car reads low about 1.5 mpg from hand calc's.
yeah i see what your saying about that particular time having the car super loaded. but in general if your running max to +5 then take into consideration that when you drive it and they warm up that adds a few more psi, i would think that the middle of the tire would wear faster than normal. just like when u run too low of a psi the outsides of the tires wear out prematurely. at least that's what i was taught. only other downside i can think from that is feeling every rock or crack in the road u go over.
but in the end everybody likes their shiet their own way and this is definitely a preference subject.

The president of the Automobile Association of Southern California recommends no more than 45 seconds for warming up the engine (just need to get the shafts lubricated and spinning). His philosophy was exactly the same. even if the car gets lower gas mileage, it is better than Zero MPG the car gets idling in the driveway.

You smoke a cig and drive a hybrid?

Abomination.

I bet you don't even drink the mandatory starbucks latte every morning.

I would say yes. I'm in IL too. I've been getting mid 30's recently when it's been subzero. I was getting mid 40's last summer, so I expect that to return with the good driving weather.

It's funny how every troll has a 911 Turbo that gets 45mpg and they post in the hybrid forums about how "Surely the hybrid does better" blah blah. Sore much

Get rid of it and get another TSX or a PU. While I dislike many things about our HCHII in the handling dept and a few other aspects of the car. It is a mpg machine if driven with any care at all.

You need to get over to cleanmpg.com. Do 1/8th what those folks do. You will be a better driver and the HCHII will shine for you mpg wise.

Why don't you show use some pics and vid's of you getting horrid mpg?

Assuming there's not a serious problem mechanically with your HCH, or perhaps a lot of setup issues... Poor mileage can usually be attributed to the driver's technique and the terrain to a certain extent.

There are 21K miles on my '09 HCH and the lifetime FE for the car is 64.9MPG. There are many techniques that can be used to improve your FE, some common sense, some not so much. But you do have to constantly work at it to get those kind of numbers.

Before I had my HCH-II I had an '09 Si and I could regularly achieve 40+MPG in the favorable summer months.

You haven't been "ripped off", it's most likely your terrain and driving technique. Hypermiling isn't easy, but if you really work at it I'm sure your numbers will improve.

I usually get between 27 and 31 in my Si sedan. I just filled up and somehow got 31.xmpg.....and I've been hitting VTEC more recently since it's been nice out. Just b4 that it was 29.x MPG. Best I ever got in my (2008) Si was 34.4. Best I ever got in my RSX-S: 37.7
