Last thing I heard is that they couldn't pass the emissions test with the AT, so until that happens, they're not gonna bring it here.

I've driven the UK oil burner 5 door hatch. It is a very interesting car. I hooked up with Wayne over at cleanmpg.com and got to drive one from Stroud Ok to the far east side of Tulsa. A hell of a car!

i read his write-up....he was easily pulling 50mpg..

then when he started trying to get good mpg he was over 80mpg..

pretty sick..

right now in my area diesel is the same price as 87oct...so you'd have a longer lasting, better mpg rig with the same fuel cost...

i'm looking for a downside

There is no downside other than its very clear we get screwed in the USA on Civic.

Diesels are less user-friendly and less efficient the further you go into colder climates. There is also extreme elevation to watch out for, if you're ever taking a trip up a mountain. The stink and noise should be cured in the new generation of clean diesels, but the engines still vibrate, and that can lead to leaking connectors (ie. hello, A/C problems). All diesels in passenger vehicles are turbodiesels, so not only do you get late power while the turbo spins up, you also risk burning it out when parking your vehicle.
