While shopping for my Hybrid (leather, NAV), I did find one local dealer that also offered $21,900, but it was not my color preference. $21,900 seems to be the bottom, bottom price for the most persistent shoppers, at today's level of incentives.

When I test drove the Insight on Saturday my sales guy never stopped running his mouth. One of few useful things he blabbed about was the fact they're offering 09 civic hybrids for $20,400. Not quite under 20K but close.

Got ours about 2 weeks ago - EX w/navi and leather. MSRP was ~$27,500....got it for ~$23,000 + change. Live in WA state, and if you buy a hybrid here, no sales tax, so that saved us a couple thousand as well. We're very happy with the deal we got. Love the car - certainly not a fast accelerator, but love the car none the less.

Insight review is under driving section. Personally I like it. I'd choose it over the civic if I was buying right now. If leather or a more upscale interior is a factor for you I'd stick to the civic. I posted a link to a NC dealer offering sweet deals on the civic. I'm not sure what's involved with buying across state lines but you could consider Midlands Honda down there. 18K and some change for the hybrid base. I found Honda dealerships in the SF Bay Area offering 2009 Hybrids for ~$20K. Here are some actual quotes that they e-mailed me, most of them were "one-day only" or "special weekend sale" prices or whatever. Prices included destination but not tax & license. The prices are real (at least the one that I bought). Was really surprised; from what I can tell the Hybrid prices are only about 10% more than an EX.
$19,988; $19,591; $19,299 (base) $22,550 (leather and nav) |
