Wouldn't Green Gauges Make More Sense?

So I was thinking, the Si has red gauges and the color red seems to be synonymous with performance and green is synonymous with hybrids, then why doesn't the hybrid have green gauges? It seems to make more sense. I photoshopped this pic as an simple illustration.

Yeah the hybrid gauges are blue, same as the R18 civics.

Probably 'cause Blue or Red is easier on the eyes, in terms of strain/stress.

Red is good for night vision but blue is supposed to be terrible for night vision and eye stress.

That's why they have a dim feature when the lights are on. I'm not sure how the red feels at night for the driver but my friend has his lit at full power day and night.

As for the green, that's neat. I think the shade you chose would look very nice on a hybrid Civic.

Haha yeah... my interior lights are dimmed to the lowest setting. Full brightness blinds the shit out of me.

I wish all of the interior lights can be turned off (except for the speedo)

S = Second
L = Low

That's a real answer.

Since the Hybrid has a CVT that finds the most efficient engine-to-wheel ratio when in Drive, the above two give you some options when descending and climbing hills with a load.

Green doesn't contrast well and clearly with both black and white. Blue is a good background to offset the bright white of the reverse LCD of the computer displays. Blue is a psychologically calming colour, whereas red is aggressive.

Let's remember that this isn't a "statement" car. Its role is to deliver the energy efficiency while also fitting in as a "normal" car. To that end it is appropriate that the Hybrid's instruments are modelled from the regular Civic.

I've always thought green bacing looked resoundingly cheap on all cars.

Actually I read in Car and driver that the S means sport.
