High EMFs in back seat near battery

Hi everyone,

I bought my civic on the 4th of July up here in Canada. I was surprised to see that the back seat behind the passenger's the Electromagnetic Field reading was 9.0 milliGauss(mG) at times. That is high. Actually the whole car is high (2 to 5 mG). I know most people are unaware of this topic and don't care but I would recommend you google the whole topic. There is no scientific evidence that high EMFs lead to any sickness but the scientific community recommends that we be prudent. I cannot recommend what is a safe reading but nothing in my home comes close to 9 mG exposure.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

This topic was being discussed a couple weeks ago, but i can't find the original thread!
Apparently the entire driver side of the vehicle gives off high EMF readings, including the driver's seat, and particularly the area near the left leg.

Personally i think that despite there being no proven connection between high EMF's and disease, levels this high have got to be bad for you. And if you accept the fact that people are energy fields it can get even scarier.

I don't know what's wrong with the Search option but I just searched for EMF on all forums and did not find our posts. I then tried searching for Electromagnetic and still no results. Something is wrong.

On the topic of EMF, what do you consider "HIGH"?

the prius was rated as a high EMF vehicle because of its battery

yes we're talking about the hybrid,
and of course the prius would give off high levels as well. I imagine most if not all hybrid cars will.

Ever tested the EMF's next to a cell phone, cordless phone, microwave, TV, or other home appliance?

I have not but I'd love to hear if any modern day devices are anywhere near the same levels. I have a hard time not liking a car just because it produces some higher levels of something that might or might not be harmful.

Cigarettes were once thought to be safe

You have to consider the fact that EMFs can be harmful and to try to minimize exposure. I'm concerned about the EMFs on the hybrid. It is much higher than being in front of a TV, Computer and other household appliances. I'm really thinking of selling the car in the next year or so if an alternative car comes out.
