Low Clearance Ramps for the 8thGen Civic?

Hola. Just wondering which ramps 8thGen Civic owners use to raise the front end for oil changes. I'm not looking for best-of-breed, just some ramps that won't scrape the front spoiler when you use them. I think 8" lift is plenty for my needs.

All suggestions welcomed!

Admirable, admirable. With your continued patronage perhaps they'll upgrade to real auto lifts.

I couldnt find one that wouldnt scrape my front bumper, so I made my own out of 1.5 inch thick wood. It lifts my car about 1 foot.

Strong as heck! It supported my dad's truck too.

^nice, but i wouldnt trust it. the ones you can buy have dips in them to hold the tires better

I did some math to try to find the correct angle. All the ones that wouldnt scrape my bumper were in the $hundreds. So i made it with my dad. I'm pretty sure it's stronger than the Rhino ones.

You couldn't catch my dead under that car with those wooden ramps. There is too much room for engineering failure.

You did a tight bit of work on those. I don't trust my engineering skills enough to do the same.

Thanks for the replies. I have a big pair of Peterson steel ramps, but it feels like a gamble putting 1.5 x 6" pieces of lumber down to lessen the incline. The "professional" ramps I found online start at $150 for the set... so I'm going to order the cheapo Rhinos and see if those wil work. If not, it's only $30 wasted.

i gto a set at walmart for like $30. Doesn't raise it all that much but certainly enough to get under fine, and no scraping in my FA5

the way my dad made ours is he stacked the wood planks together so there is no failure points, nailed them together one level at a time when you drive up the worst thing that could happen is the wood compact together a bit...
...
......
...........
...............

picture that as different lengths of wood put one on top of eachother.

I'm spoiled...I work for my dad, who owns a body shop that has 2 lifts, so I can get my car about 6.5-7 feet up in the air

We were actually thinking of doing that. But we thought it's be too heavy and cost too much for materials. My ramp is about 50 pounds each

Yeah okay, or you could spend some extra money and buy a real jack and stands that are safe.

I respect your ingenuity but you do realize that that kind of thing that gets people Darwin awards.
