SRS Malfunction

Sometimes when i turn on my 06 civic lx, i get a red alert with a picture of the airbag. The maual says that its an srs malfunction but sometimes the light doesnt come up. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I have the same car and i've never had this happen. I'd go to the dealer and have that looked at, as I consider the SRS system a major part of the safety protection integral to the Civic.

I'd still take it in and have them check everything over. Maybe you can catch it on video so that they can see the problem themselves. It almost sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Either way I would insist they check everything over, I wouldn't be a dick about it... knowing that intermittant problems can be difficult and time consuming to track down and fix.

Does it just turn on when your key is in the "on" position but then off once you've started your car? If so, thats very normal.

How long has this been going on? I left my passenger window open in a rainstorm once and some airbag light came on. After a few days it dried out and went away.

i had the same thing happen on mine, only it was after an accident the airbags did not deploy, but the airbag light came on, and stayed lit for the month i drove the car around before it was fixed. once i got the car back from the body shop, all was well luckily.
