Problems with the Civic Sedan??

What are all the problems so far that people know of in the Sedan? I heard something about wind noise near the windshield and few other things. Anythin else? Have these problems been fixed yet or do i have to wait for an 07 for the kinks to be worked out? thanks

I get some wind noise, honestly it has a louder cabin than my truck. But all my civic's in the past have been a little on the noisy side IMO and this one is no more or less than the rest.

Other than that, I have had no problems. There have been a few bump, but I think if you buy one today, they should be taken car of.

Have no wind noise (beyond what's normal) in my LX sedan.

My advise: If you can, get one built in Japan (1st choice) or Ohio (2nd choice). My car was built in Ontario Canada. While I'm not complaining, and others may have no issues with a Canadian-built car, my car had the following issues--all fixed under warrenty:

- Bad SRS sensor under the rear seat (dash light was on, before 500 miles).
- Leaking elbow joint near the power-steering unit (leaked power-steering fluid on my garage floor, at about 600 or so miles).
- Warped trim piece (the plastic part where the trunk key goes in).
- Loose-fitting front-passenger outter door seal (was too wide a gap at the triagular window--a forward-facing seal no less).
- And I had the rear-passenger outter door seal replaced, but that was more a cosmetic issue, as it just looked like crap from outside the car.
- A drivers-front fender the one day decided to stick out down near the bottom-front of the door (the dealer bolted it back in place).
- And I'm thinking of getting the drivers-door inner seal replaced, as it has a "dent" in it, but it's not a biggie. But, as I'll more than likely keep the car a long time, I should.

<edit> Oh, and the drivers door hinge squeeks (somewhere inside of the door) whenever I wash the car, or it rains. Annoying, to be sure.

<edit> And I had the console heater duct issue (cupholders got warm). Fixed it myself--was easy.

Need I say more? The VIN will indicate where the car is assembled.

I don't think they bring them Japan anymore, not 100% sure about that though. I don't know if sedan are built in Ohio either. I think the only way to get one not built N. AMerica is to buy a Hybrid.

The wind noise problem is because of the driver side weather strip on the door. If it is pushed back too far and there is a space, there will be wind noise.

There are many fixes, including moving the seal. I just used a piece of a sponge until I have time to move the strip. Once I put the sponge in place, the problem went away.

A while back, I e-mailed the guy who wrote the 17,000 mile report.

He told me that his was an early 2006 EX sedan (he bought it in Sept. of 2005), and his was built in Japan, he added. But he lives on the west coast. Could be that Japan-built sedans may be available out west, but not here in the east? Or, it's possible early models came from Japan.

When I asked him to quantify the noise for me (better than he did in his original article), he said his wind noise was a "hissing sound" that he could hear with his radio set at a volume of 10 (and he could hear it while sitting on the passenger side, with someone else driving, of course).

My Canadian-built LX sedan has no such severe wind noise.
It had only the problems I've listed above in my earlier post.

I too have a sedan built in Japan. I got mine in March and the build date is Jan '06. Wasn't special ordered. Got it through internet quotes and e-mails with the internet manager at AutoWest Honda in Fremont, CA. It just happened to be on the lot. I didn't even notice it was made in Japan until I was doing my final inspection before delivery. It's a GG EX AT sedan.

I haven't had any problems thus far. I have about 3K miles on it. No, I don't drive it very much.

I've read that other member's doors aren't lined up straight. You can tell by comparing where the weatherstripping lines up between the front and rear passenger doors. My car does not exhibit this problem.

My EX Sedan 5MT is near flawless. Only real issue I may have is the drivers side rear wheel spring looks to be sagging a bit. I did have the heater duct issue in the cneter consoul. But that was a no brainer easy fix.

I have no wind noise, rattles or squeaks, no check engine lights, oil usage. Just near perfect. No lug bug. Thank god no AT.

I've had my car about a month. I've now got 1700 miles on it. Mine was built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. I've been to the dealer 4 times for various problems. I'd say your sedan will be okay as long as you don't a Canadian built one like mine.

It says on the window sticker. Also, open up the driver's door. There is a sticker there that says where it is built too.

Mine is from Japan, I'm from Ohio. I thought the Japan made ones where only set here intially because he N.American plantt where expected to fall behind production during the intial sales period of the '06 civic.

There are companies that import car from Japan, but it really depends on the state you live in and their specific laws regarding that.

GlennS, when did you get your Civic? Just wondering if I should be looking for those problems that you had. I haven't had any problems yet.

Hi,
Purchased my LX sedan on Feb. 28, 2006. It was assembled (in Canada) in December of 2005, according to the sticker located inside the drivers door.
(I would not go looking for problems ;-) but, fact is, mine were all for real.)
I'm sure most are just fine, as indicated by the repies in this thread. :-)
