guess what my wife did today!

I got a call from her @ noon saying that she rearended a dodge p/u. I think this car is doomed, it was dented/ scratched before we even made a payment! And wrecked before we made out second payment (it is paid on the 1st.)! I got some pics, lets see if I can get them on here.

Did she sign the divorce papers yet? lol just kidding I'm sure your car will be fine with a few repairs. Good luck with it.

Did the Airbag deploy? Could be a costly repair if it did.

Bummer! Hope she is OK! Looks like all that was damaged is the hood and a bumper? Headlights damaged at all? Did it hurt the Dodge any?

OH MY ... gosh. As long as she's okay then that's fine! Do you have warranty?

Even as much as I would have liked to kill her, it was fairly minor. She got lucky that it missed the radiator and A/C condensor even though the condensor is bowed.The airbags didn't deploy and she was able to drive home in the A/C. Here are some more pics;

there is damage behind the bumper, the core support on the right side of the radiator is buckled/twisted, the right fender is pushed back/out. The extruded aluminum crush tube is 3/4 sheared off. the dodge had a receiver slide-in installed(no ball luckily) that impaled the frontend of the car a good 6-8", there MIGHT have been some minor bumper damage on the dodge but that is it.

Darn. That hurts. Buy her a '95 Neon in Lime green with a hood off of a purple neon as punishment. That's what I'd do if my husband wrecked my car.

This is the first brand new car she has ever had! I am almost tempted to leave it damaged for a while to remind her!(not really) it goes in for an Est. on Tues.

First one huh? Ouch. Is this her second accident in this car? Thats the part that really sucks. I'm a bigger threat accident wise, just because I have both of our cars right now and I drive the crap outta mine. Other than that, I'm the one who picked them both out, baby's them and maintains them both. They're like kids to me.

Sorry to hear/see the news. That is quite a bummer. For me, the main reason for owning the Honda civic, isn't the style, MPG, or the reliability. It is the safety. I know that I and my family are as safe as possible in a compact car. This is also why we drive a 2005 Sienna. As much as we love them, cars are objects to be used, and discarded, (some sooner than others )

You will hardly remember this ordeal many years from now, but if your wife was seriously hurt, you would remember this day for the rest of your life!!

Sorry to hear the news, aslong as your wife is kicking, its cool. A car is replacable, a life isn't.

The wife is fine other than the sore back that the accident aggravated and the cussing I sent her way.

In her defense the 1st incident wasn't her fault, someone else kicked something up and it hit the rear quarterpanel.

Uh huh, I didn't know.

That's odd, the finance guy told me if I were to ever get into an accident, I had a warranty to get that fixed.

Well anyways to the thread starter...as long as your wife is okay and your car is fixable, you are good to go!

Doesn't look too bad. Max is about $3000 to fix it, I'd say. I believe my new front bumper and fender were about $1500 to fix. And, I have to say that I'm happy Honda designed the fender to do what it does (as you can see from your pic, it pulls away from the A-pillar)...you avoid expensive repairs to your A-pillar (part of the car's unibody) that way.

you are right there, but it put a minor scratch on the pillar, but that is not what I am worried about. the receiver went all the way to the vertical part of the core support by the radiator and It looks to me that it pulled the right side down and back. I just wonder how much of the superstructure under the fender is damaged.

Same thing happened to me. I slid underneath a Ranger P/U. It'd just started snowing. Was about $1700 in damage for me. $500 for her

But unlike your car, my car deserved it. It was a POS...lol
