Question does your civic make this sound?

When I park my civic for a period of time say more than 3hr or so or until the engine has cooled off and I go and start it up and pull away, I hear this loud "click" sound. I guess the best way to describe it is that it sounds like something has just hit the rubber part of your tire very hard.

and my car is a GG 06 civic 5 spd

is like a growl? Also does it happen at about 5mph? If so it is the ABS brake system.

Mine does the same, but it sounds more like a light 'clunk'. The strange thing is that it makes the sound only when you first turn the wheel. If you start moving w/o touching the wheel, there is no clunk. As soon as you turn the wheel it clunks, but only once. I've seen similar postings on the same, so I guess it's normal.......btw, mine is also a GG 4dr, 5spd Manual.

It must be when you're changing into gears from park. I started using the E-break to lock the car before i relase the breaks when i park and push in the break before i release the E-break and put it out of park. Just like the MT and i havent been hearing any cluncks. i have EX AT by the way

maybe it has something to do with the e-brake
Im going to try and park it without the ebrake on tonight and see if it still has that sound in the morning

hehe, I guess you guys have not owned a 7th gen Civic or Integra, etc. before. It's perfectly normal. My '01 EX coupe did this too and my '99 GSR still does it.

It's the fuel pump. It does it when you move the car in the morning or after it's been sitting there for several hours. You don't have to turn the wheel but as soon as you do it does it right away. I guess the turning of the wheel triggers it sooner because the computer thinks the car is moving or ready to be driven. If you don't turn the wheel, that sound comes on a little later and you won't notice it because you 're revving the motor more or you have the radio on. It sometimes happens to me (and the '01 I had) when I 'm at the end of my 85ft driveway or as soon as I 'm on the street and put it in 1st and go forward. But that sound usually comes on within the first 15ft of pulling out of my driveway. I probably depends on the weather and how long the car 's been sitting there turned off.

So relax everyone. It's a non-issue. I have a lot more serious problems like my LX coupe MT has never tracked straight since I bought it and a wheel alignment didn't do anything. Going back to the dealer. I wish a little sound was the only problem I had..

idk man i have a different opinion... not saying you'r wrong but i think its just the gears when you back up they go backwards anad then when you swich to drive and lightly accelerate it goes the other way making the clicking sound... it happens to me when i dont fully stop on the stop sign... then the car downshifts and it makes the same noise... thats what i think mine is loud i think... just like a loud clank...

its the rotors, when they cool down they holes for the lugs actually shrink a bit and pull away from the lugs, then when you pull out and tap the brake or whatenot they shift and make a lil pop.

i get the same sound but only when i hit the brakes.

try it and see if it comes from hitting the brakes

I remember reading somewhere it was the ABS/EBD doing a self check when starting out and it is perfectly normal. I notice it every time with my 2007 EX sedan (23,000KM) it's a click coming from the front wheel area.

The only clunk i get is when i turn my a/c on for the first time every morning.

I turn on the car and everything is normal, then i turn the a/c on and you hear a clunk and it sounds like the fan hits something once then its fine the whole day.

The same thing happens to mine. I have an '06 Si.

Usually I don't hear it unless my car is parked for more than 8 hours at a time. The sound is similar to the transmission kicking into gear after you let go of the clutch too quickly...problem is that the car is parked, with the e-brake on, and no movement to anything at all. This is not normal since it's only started happening recently.

Sometimes it occurs immediately after turning on the car, sometimes it's a good 5 seconds later. Doesn't matter whether I have the clutch depressed or not.

I'm starting to think that the flywheel is loose. Either way, it's going into the shop soon. Too early to be having this problem after only 18 months and 13,000 miles.

I have the same click/clunk noise from time to time. Perhaps this is the same issue that most 8th gen owners are experiencing.

Check out this thread Clunk from front end.
