Touch up.

I have about 2 rock/stone chips on my hood and fender that show metal,my fear is that it will rust. I want to get touch up, and clearcoat,to fix it so it wont rust, any suggestions? Thanks.

for now i would get some touch up from honda to prevent rusting like you said and then down the road you may want to get it fixed professionally.

So has a temporary precaution i should just get some clearcoat/gloss put it on then let it dry? Then apply the touch up in layers? I am glad it did not rust yet,WD 40 should remove rust if it does start to.

the factory tuchup they sell from honda should be enough for now, just to keep it from rusting. Then when you get it fixed they will paint and clear it.

Many sites have factory paint like www.paintscratch.com. I am confused about what they say about finding the proper match, and not to base it off your color code. I should order a small bottle of clearcoat and touch up, but it says i cant order it based on the color??

Just go to the dealer and tell them which color car you have.

take a 400grit sand paper and gently clean the area where it's showing
the metal. wipe clean with alcohol, then apply a dab of primer using a
tooth pick (tap the tip to a wall or concrete to make the tip into a "T" shape
so it can retain paint). let the capillary action do the work, don't try
brushing it on with your tooth pick. don't use too much primer; a light
coat will do the job.

then let it dry for about 15-20min, and apply your touchup you got from
the dealer using a tooth pick. you can use the brush in the touchup bottle
to dab a little into a yogurt cup or any clean plastic you plan to toss out.
don't use the brush to apply onto the car.

a typical chip will require minimum 5-6 coats, but ive done some that
required 10-15 coats. apply coats every 5-10min until you get a little
convex vs the surrounding paint. let dry for a week. this part is very
important. a lot of people rush this step and screw it up.

After waiting a week, take a 1500grit sanding block or sand paper
wrapped around a small piece of wood and gently sand the touchup
until the height is near the surrounding paint. then go to a 2000grit
and sand until it is flush to the surrounding paint.

finish off with 3000grit or Meguiar's ScratchX to a nice clean polish
shine. let dry for another week, then wax as usual.

I'm trying to find the color code on my car... It's nighthawk black, but I can't seem to find it anywhere near the driver side door pillar, so I just used the 11th letter of my VIN... just fyi..
