What kind of parts you looking for? Suspension, exhaust, etc?

As far as I know there is not too much aftermarket for the R18 yet. Give it a few months and Im sure things will be coming out!

Its not just you its true. There is absolutly nothing out for us yet. It sucks, when I got a Civic I was all excited to get started looking the way I want it too. And make some basic upgrades, and I was surprised that there isnt even a SRI out for our car I guess we just need to be patient.

IMO there isnt going to be alot for the r18. The engine just dosent lend its self to mods. No bolt on exhaust header should clue anybody in that has opened the hood. And that huge CAT right off the head!!!

The semi atkins head design and the vtec design does not lend its self to mods. To do anything worth while with this engine would mandate a new head for starters period.

Theres not a flood of parts for this engine cause its not a good cheap modder. The days of the sleeper LX Civic I fear are over for the most part.

IMO Honda has made it very clear what there up to. Si is there for the waiting if you want to pony up and will haul ass and put them back in the tuner limelight at the will of those that purchase.

R18 Civics are there for the mass's to enjoy and drive the crap out of and get good mpg in the face of rising fuel cost.

The hybrid is a great car if your into hypermiling and want to cut the gas useage even farther, strech out and flip off Accord hybrid owners and out run Prius or Insight.

I honestly dont know why so many are waiting on what will be in the long run. So little in the way of mods for the r18 based Civics. There just not built for it.

O well ,,, steps off the soap box. Enjoying my r18 for what it is.

You are totally right, i didn't expect headers when i looked under my hood. I just wanted a CAI maybe for a little fun. But definetly, i'm not putting too much money into this engine, the K20 is a way better way to go. All i want is just a CAI and maybe a few minor mods. I knew right off the bat when the engine is sohc that gas milage was more important in this model than power. Thats why there is hardly ne torque or power until high rpms. It would be wise for say aem or ingen to make a CAI because i know a lot of people on just this site that would get it. But i understand that R18 plus a lot of money is just not as good as a K20.

This is one of the best posts I have ever seen. It offers insight and has a very reasonable explanation behind the argument that the engine is not mod-friendly. Even the conjecture that the days of the sleeper LX are over, that's brilliant, but most-likely going to be absolutely true.

Good job psy, I agree with you on everything you said. It all makes perfect sense, and you're right, it is simply not that easy to modify with little funds. Honda wants the SI to be the car that everybody tunes, it was simply made that way, plus they made the public not really want to modify their LX and EX coupes because... well... they could just get an SI instead. Honda ends up making more money and gaining more "street credit" for the SI, exactly like they wanted. Good job psy and good job Honda for the forethought. I keep forgetting how smart Honda's business/marketing branch is, I usually focus on their awesome engineers. <3 Honda

The Si will obviously get all the goods first. But it's a civic, history shows that aftermarket companies will not forget about us

Yeah, I haven't even gotten my car yet and I'm already looking at wheels on the internet... I'd be happy with a completely stock Civic, it has 5 more horsepower and weighs 800 pounds less than my last car, so it HAS to be faster, right?

I agree with psy's post for sure. There's really no point in buying an R18 and then trying to mod it up like in years past when you can just simply buy a K20 and have a better engine stock. However, there's nothing wrong with simply opening up the intake and maybe the exhaust a little to see if you can sequester a few extra horse power. In fact, I'm really interested to see how the R18s respond to simple modifications. It would be great to find some products that consistently give an extra 10 or so hp.

I'm just waiting patiently for the CAI or SRI, whichever I have the urge to get, depending on money.

I'd like to get 150-160 hp outa my ex. Just a little boost.

I guess that's what I get for not knowing how to drive a manual :-\

Soon Injen and AEM will have intakes for the coupe/sedan, but that probably won't be until summer. :-(
