lower profile tires on stock wheels

Have anyone try to put 205/50/16 tires on the stock EX wheels? I want to improve the handling of my car but I don't want to opt for 17' wheels and I think a bit lower profile and stiffer sidewall should help.

I know the wheels will fit but what about the overall look of the car, will it looks very strange because the 50 series tires is shorter ( more wheel gap)?

thank you

There will be a slightly bigger gap between the tire and fender which may look a little strange, but It might not be big enough to be bad.

The tire will have a smaller rolling diameter. This will effect several things. The car may feel a tiny bit peppier because the smaller tire basically increases the gear numerical ratio. This will also cause slightly lower MPG and your speedometer will be slightly off. These may not be huge issues but will be there.

You would probably be better off just getting high performance tires in the stock size. A good performance tire will offer improved handling over the stock tires, even if you keep the stock size.

thanks for the reply, I understand the side-effect of putting shorter tires and the main reason for that idea is because there is more choice for 205/50/16 tires than the stock size.

A 50 series tire will only be about 10mm shorter overall than the stock tire. This means you will only have a 5mm larger gap. It may or may not be noticable, but it won't be significant. None of the differences would be extreme.

Im going to put on 45 or 50 series tires on my hybrid rims as soon as these POS tires wear out.
I also have 40 series tires on tsx mag wheels.
Looks great, super stiff side wall so its very responsive, also gives you better gearing(Our hondas need all the gearing we can get) and if your picky about weight, going low pro brings down the weight about as much as getting a inch bigger tire.
GO FOR IT! only prob is you ll have that bigger wheel gap.
I have a 07 DX
