Wow, indeed very thorough. The "lemon-aid" section about the sedan window noise was especially fascinating. This guy did an excellent job chasing down his problem and solving it.

That's the first I'd heard of that wind noise issue. Is that something that many sedan owners on this site are experiencing? I did a search but couldn't find anything.

I believe most (all?) US coupes and Sis are built there. Not sure about sedans.

No windnoise at any speed on my sedan either. I even have same color as him

I checked my window seals and it did not look like the pictures in his article. Mine looked more finished. I haven't read any other member here or on TOV complaining about this...you would think at least one right??

So you would think. I don't imagine that members of this forum would be shy about complaining about an issue.

I have the same wind noise as Dan. I applied some 1/4 in foam seal and it helped a little, but still evident, primarily from 40 mph and higher. I am going to try a slightly thicker piece to see if that takes care of the problem. I do admit, the car is so quiet inside, it is really easy to pick out noises! Thanks. -Rob

Wind noise in Dan's car...

Hi,

After I first read Dan's 17,000 mile review of his EX Civic sedan, I e-mailed him asking him to describe the noise (better than he did in the article). He finally nailed it (for me) when he said he could hear wind noise with his stereo set at a volume level of 10, and he could even hear the noise when sitting in the passenger seat (with someone else driving).

The short verions is: He lives on the west coast, and bought one of the first Civic sedans available (Sept. of '05). In the end he said: "There's speculation that the wind noise occurs in early Civics built in Japan."

My fnal e-mail to him was that he should modify the article to quatify the severity of the noise (as above).

Finally, I feel he should also add the part about the "speculation" regarding early models built in Japan, as that would rule out cars built later, built in Ohio, and built in Canada (as my LX sedan, which as no such wind noise, was). That would get a lot fewer people excited about this issue that's apparently limited to certain cars, from a certain time frame, and from Japan.

Regards,
Glenn in CT
