The Civic is history

I unloaded the Civic today. Its gone.

Today all four inner door seals failed and something broke in the rear end. Sounded like somebody was beating on the bottom of the trunk with a hammer.

I traded it for a new 2007 Mazda3 S Touring, 5MT. The Mazda is built in Japan with 95% parts content from Japan. I handles great! Its quite as our Accord. No Navi or sun roof.

At 41,414 miles I had enough of my Lemon Civic. They gave me above KKB for the car which covered the note and I got the Mazda for $17700 out the door.

On the 40 mile drive home I got 44 mpg with it. A short drive around town with the wife to score a ice cream brought the tank down to 42.8. I see no reason why I shouldn't get the mpg I was getting in the Civic. A bit more room, more power and better handling. Theres just no way it can be as bad of a car as my Civic was.

Sorry to see that you parted with it, but after following your journey, I can understand why you did. Good luck with your new car. My sister has a 2006 Mazda 3 and absolutely loves it. They really are great cars.

Learn to drive for fuel economy and then chat with me about 44 mpg in the 3. I expect the mpg levels I was getting in my Civic.

Anytime you want a lesson in mpg driving come on to oklahoma. I would be glad to school you up.

Sorry for another post.. but it's a MAZDA 3 S. Not a speed version.. just an 'S' version. Learn the facts before you call bs.

i will gurantee you that you can never get 44 miles per gallon. if you got 44mpg then you must be getting 440 miles off 10gallons. not possible. i owned sohc 1.5 and 1.6 in the past and i never came close to 440 all highway. now i have a 1.7 and we can get barely 300 mixed driving. remember it is bassed of 10gallons not bone dry. the mazda3 is a 2.3 dohc not possible.

i did
lol...ill sum it up for everone

never go over 40mph (dont worry about other drivers lookin to jack u)
inflate ur tires to 50 (so its over the limit...what do the tire mfgs know anyway)
turn off the engine and coast whenever u can (breaking and steering are a nice challenge and keeps u alert)

sounds real safe no thx...get a hybrid if u really want to help the environ

i forgot a couple

take turns at 50
draft trucks

not only r these things dangerous they r illegal in some states...it amounts to irresponsible driving...please give careful consideration when implementing ne of these strategies

Actually, have you seen the video about the results that hybrid drivers get with these techniques?

Honda Insight Marathon 2,254.4 miles on one tank of gas!

Hopefully you're much happier with this car, psyshack. I also wish you the best with it and hope it's pretty problem free.

Here are a few pics of the 3.
http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=562

Heres some ink on it. The tester is the same color and trim as mine.
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...mazda-3-s.html

I took the car out to the local lakes yesterday. 30 mile round trip on the back roads was good for 56.6 mpg by the scangage. Not bad as all with just 100 miles on the car. The average speed was 27 mph. Which is exactly the speed ave I would get in the Civic and get 70 mpg once it was well broken in. So I feel there is some mpg hidden off in the mz3. The old back roads have some good off camber turns and such. The car stayed very composed in corners safety marked at 25 mph at speeds up to 45 mpg. Turn in was good. Body roll flat. The goodyear rs-a's not even stressed. It will be interesting to see what it gets for the drive to work and back today. The Civic would have been a shoe in for 52 to 54 mpg for the day.

Im very aware of some of the issue's folks have had with the MZ3's. Of note: There have been some major A/C issue's with them. The carpets and mats have been known to fall apart. And they can turn into rattle traps.

Thanks for all the kind words. :) There still a 05 Accord EX in the family. The wife really loves her car.
