I've narrowed my search for a new car to these two - 1) Honda Civic EX '07 vs. 2) Acura CSX '07 touring. The reason why I'm actually considering the Acura CSX is because it has the JDM styling cues (the front-grille and rear-end lights) which is way hotter than the normal looking Canadian civics up here.
Now, my only problem is that the price difference between the highest model of Civic (EX) vs. the base model of the CSX (touring edition) have a pretty huge price difference. Honda Civic EX '07 (auto trans.) = $ $23,630 CDN MSRP Acura CSX touring '07 (auto trans) = $27,290 CDN MSRP Now, the question is, is it worth it to spend nearly $4,000 more on a CSX base model? Both have the same financing rate of 1.9% (36 months) or 2.9% (48 months) Here are the main difference b/w the two - Honda Civic EX '07: Engine: 1.8-litre, SOHC, 16-valve, i-VTEC(r) 4-cylinder Horesepower: 140 hp @ 6300 rpm Fuel economy (city/hwy): 8.2/5.7/100km VS. Acura CSX touring '07: Engine: 2.0-litre, DOHC, 16-valve, i-VTEC® 4-cylinder (same engine as Acura RSX) Horsepower: 155 hp @ 6000 rpm Fuel economy (city/hwy): 9.5/6.5 litres/100km *Additional standard items not on Civic EX: - 5-speed automatic transmission with Paddle Shifters - JDM style front-end + rear-end lights (looks way hotter than the typical CDN civic) - Electric Power Steering (From Civic Si) - Integrated turn signals on side mirrors - Sportier suspension (a la Si) - Climate control - Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel - Remote Trunk Release The Acura CSX also has the "Premium package" for additional $2,500 on top of the Base price and you get the following: 1) leather interiour w/ heated front seats, and 2) HID lights. I don't really don't fancy leather seats and I can always install aftermarket HID lights anyway. So is it worth it to move to the CSX base model? Does anyone know if insurance will be more expensive for an Acura CSX vs. a Honda Civic? Does Acura CSX need premium gas? Or is regular unleaded gas okay to use on a CSX just like a Civic? Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! |

I would get the CSX. It may be $4000 more, but that only changes your monthly payments by about $80. The CSX is a much nicer car looks and option wise.
I cant imagine insurance being that much different, but you can call your company for a quote. The CSX takes regular gas. |

CSX would be awesome but for that kind of money I would look at the other options out there. But if you are stuck on those 2 I would definetly get the CSX. It sounds like it's worth the extra cha-chings. |

I was faced with the same decision you are. I just picked up my new CSX yesterday, and it's perfect. I have the touring edition. I wasn't even planning to test drive the CSX because of the price difference, but it's well worth it. I ended up getting a great deal on the CSX as well!

Honestly for $27k I would move one size bigger in class. Cuz in terms of gas milege and safety features, I will go test drive the Accord as well for the same price.
Between the 2 u mentioned, I would choose the Civic. Both rides in cloth, got a sunroof, the matter is if u want to pay more for the mere 15 more ponnies?!? |
