LX Manual Performance
I'm currently driving a Scion tC w/ manual trans. I'm looking for a car that is fun but is a better fit for my family so I'm considering the LX Sedan with a manual trans.
I checked Car and Driver and they have an article with the "Fastest Cars under $20,000.00". The base civic w/ 5 speed is number 8, while the tC is number 5 at only a few tenths of a second faster. So my question is, does the Civic FEEL fast? I've read that it handles well, but I don't want to sacrifice a lot of the pep that the tC has. Does anyone have first hand experience driving both the Civic and the tC with manual transmissions? BTW, an SI is out of the question! THANKS!!! |

Words will only do so much. You should drop by a dealership and give the car a spin and see what you think of it. I think that would be your best bet. Speaking from personal experience though, I went from an LX and Si. The LX engine has a lot of prep for 1.8L. I mean, it's only 140 horses, but it sure as hell felt a lot faster than that. Keep in mind the EP3 stock is 160 hp, so it's not bad for what it has offer.

It's A Honda
It's a 4 cylinder engine and the car cost $17,000-$18,000. What do you expect? The Honda has bettering styling, handling, gas mileage, and most of all "It's a Honda" which has the best resale of any car under $25,000 on the market today.

before i took the plunge i was debating between those same cars, went for the lx, for a while i wasnt sure if i had done the right thing, but after having the car for 9 months i am glad i picked the civic, i wouldnt trade it for the tc, love the way it performs in city traffic and i was pleasantly surprised at how good it drives on the freeway, has a pretty consistent and steaddy power output troughout the rpm range,.

I have driven the TC and the Civic EX. The TC is faster for sure and it feels it. I do not regret my decision on getting the civic though, I honestly do think its a better car over all. All other things aside, the TC is a more powerful car. It is retarded to argue otherwise.

i use to have a auto tc and got a auto ex after getting hit by a drunk driver. i know you're talking about manual and manual but i think auto and auto shouldn't be that much different(comparing auto to auto)? i gotta say the tc is way more fun to drive then the ex. and tc has more aftermarket parts than the regular civic. i say... keep the tc?
