What's So Diferent About Our Car?

i took my lx for it's first oil change today, it's been 9 months since i bought it and 3700 miles,. and my minder had just hit 15 %, so when i told the guy at the dealer it needed an oil change his reponse was " oh so you want to do it EARLY?", i said " it's been 9 months, lol. that just left me wondering how is this car's internals diferent than any other car? why does it not need oil changes at 3000 miles or 3 month or at least every 6 months? is it safe? , honda would make more money if they had the service done sooner uhhm? anyways what u all think about it?.

it does have break in oil in it from the factory. i dont understand why the oil isnt every 3 months on non-synthetic oil.

it might be because these cars take the way you drive into consideration. Maybe since the older ones did not it was a way of making sure everything stayed fresh

I follow the computer on my car...

It's usually around every 5,000 miles. I'm running non-synthetic oil.

every 3k i bring my car in to the dealer and have them change the oil... this is my first honda,(first import actually) and i still don't believe that the oil lasts longer in these cars.. i stick by the rule, three thousand miles or three months... this one guy keeps giving me a hard time he says in broken english bring your car in when it gets to 15% so when he does that i leave and come back later, and get another tech...

mine is weird cus my minder says im in 15% and i only got like 2000 miles. maybe because i always use the car for city driving and less highway miles.

so i took it to my stealership for her first oil change and they were like wtf you only got 2000 miles? lol

btw my car is an ex 5spd

sorry for the OT, but is it true that you can't switch to semi synthetic/ synthetic oil unless you already hit 10kmiles?

You can jump straight to synthetic on your first oil change. There are plenty of people on these boards that have done it and no issues have been reported.

if you realy ment 100k and not 10k i wouldnt use synthetic now. My old mechanic said that if ytou start to use synthetic after high mileage it can damage the motor. I dont remember how or any deatails, but i wound up not going to synthetic in the other car because of that. It had about 140k on it then. He didnt say it was gauranteed to mess it up, only it was possible
