Keyless Entry "beep" action...

When you press the unlock button on a lexus, audi, or acura, the car flashes the turn signals like ours but it makes a soft "beep beep" noise, and when it is locked or the trunk is opened, it makes a single beep noise. Is there a way to add this to our Civics?? I just think it is a feature that makes the car seem more sophisticated...

i guess somewhere coming out of the factory alarm brain is a horn signal, you could intercept that for the beep when locking, but it would also override your horn for the panic

It has a beep for locking, but for the beep while trunk pop, nah. I don't even see the point of it.

Ugggh you think ours isn't sophisticated sounding?

You should have heard my rental Dodge Caliber - beeped on the first press, the loudest and most annoying pitch I'd ever heard. I was afraid to lock my car....

I am so glad we have to press our buttons twice to make it beep. I hate the beep for lock/unlock. "Hey, look at me, I just locked my door"

HAHA my thoughts exactly.

Attempting to modify the stock alarm system to achieve this effect is inadvisable unless you are familiar with circuit design and are comfortable soldering on multilayer circuit board. That being said I have experience with both, so if its something you decide to attempt I could help you out.

I agree. The horn-beep after hitting twice to lock is fine. Sometimes I don't double-hit, and just look to make sure the parking lamps flash. I think a horn beep to unlock (doors or trunk) would get obnoxious after a while.

Side note -- I like how the car relocks after 15 seconds if a door is not opened.

I sometimes just press the lock button 3 times so it makes it sound like I have an alarm.

The doors re-lock after 15 seconds?

Personally, I just mash the button till I hear it honk. I'm severely absent minded, so I've trained myself to listen for the honk.
