First post, first oil change and some random notes
Hello all,
This is my first post. I have a 2007 Civic Ex with just over 5000 miles. What follows are random thoughts 1. I love my mileage I was averaging 26-28MPG (mix of city and highway) and a bit disappointed. After my oil change my first tank of gas (had slightly more highway than usual but not enough to justify the difference) was 33mpg. I then took a long drive (2.5 hours both ways, set cruise control at 67MPH most of the way) and that tank averaged 40+MPG! I am guessing that a lot of factors are contributing to the change (it is now warm etc) but I will keep an eye on my MPG but this seems to verify the adage that mileage improves after the first oil change. 2. I really really like this car. It is my first new car since all my other cars have been used I find the car comfortable, stylish and really think for the money that I paid ($250 over invoice) I got a deal. Even if I had paid full M.S.R.P I would still be happy. I have the royal blue with the Grey interior. At the time I was considering the Acura TSX but couldn't justify the $10,000 difference. 3. I like the audio system and the auxilary in. I also like the fact that I can play CD's that have .mp3s and .wav files. 4. I've been treated well by the dealership Some very minor quibbles When I got the car there was some oil stains by the dip-stick which meant someone was sloppy. So for some time I would smell oil coming through the vents. I went over the engine looking for any leak of some kind but couldn't find anything. So I am guessing I'm fine but if the smell comes back I'll note it. I had the dealership look for oil leaks but they found nothing. I wish there was a way to turn off the Daytime Running Lights. I like astronomy and when I drive up to a star party you ideally want your lights off to avoid killing people's night vision that they just spend 1 hour adapting to. Power I feel the car has slightly less pick-up than my 2000 Acura Integra. I suspect that this is due to the extra gear since HPWise the engines are exactly the same (140HP). But to be honest, I've yet to have one of those 'Dang, I need more power!' moments. Better tires needed. The ones that come with it are not bad but neither are they great. They are also atrocious on snow/ice. Next winter I will put on BridgeStone Blizzaks, which we have on the Integra (it makes a huge difference).

I agree with everything you said. The only thing I don't like is the fluctuation in gas milege I've experienced. It seems to perform really well on the highway, however with any sort of city mix, the gas mileage just takes a huge nose dive into the ground.
If you want to kill the DRLs, you'll be pulling out fuse #37.
