How to tell if car is certified ?

My wife and I got another 2010 civic with 20,000 miles on it after she totaled her last one recently, and opted to get it certified for the extra money, they did the 150 point inspection for it to be certified and gave us the carfax on it.

my question is they said I would receive paper work on it indicating it was indeed certified in the mail, it has been 2 and a half weeks and still have received nothing. Do you usually get paperwork explaining the car is a certified preowned from honda or how do I know it is or are they just giving me the run around?

It you buy a car.. They suppose to show you the carfax right there. Not wait to mail it.I think you got played

I didn't have any paperwork saying my car was certified until they mailed it to me. I think it took less than a month. You will get a little card with the cars info along with some other stuff.

Mine was listed as certified on both Honda.com and autotrader. I got paperwork from American Honda about a month later.

I just got my certified card today in the mail, it took about a month to receive it.

yeah it only been two weeks so dealer said we should get it in soon.

Certified, sadly, is nothing to be trusted. All it really is- the dealership signs some papers and pays the fee to have it "certified". This is done to jack up the price.

It should be counted no more than an exteneded warranty price.

I bought my 09 lx back in april. It was listed on the dealer's website as certified and I have a decal on the driver's front window that says, "Certified Pre-owned." I never received a card from Honda? I bought the extended warranty and that information I did receive.

What is this card you guys mentioned? Should I call Honda?

I don't put any stock in a dealer's method of certifing a car, because the cars that are eligible for certification are quite new.

I do believe that dealers will use any gimic to raise the price of a used car.

With the advent of the world wide web, why is anyone still buying used cars from dealerships?

I'm not a fan of govt regulations- however this "certified pre-owned" scam needs to be controlled.
