dude im not sure what low pro tires you are running at that PSI

but every low profile tire ive used - the general range for PSI is around 32-35

think about it .. does the OEM 215 45 17 the SI comes with recommend that tire pressure ?

i dont have my manual with me .. but i think its 32 psi in the front .. 35 rear for the SI .. or is it the other way around

either way its DEF NOT 38-42

Debating it is pointless, every tire has it's own recommended PSI. Go look on the tire and it will tell you the max PSI it can handle.

i think you are not understanding what he is asking

HE should be running what is recommended for the SI

now the stock 215 45 17 tire runs a 32 PSI ...

you can't tell me that by upgrading to a 225 45 17 .. he should now be running 38-42 PSI

btw .. what you are referring to is MAX PSI .. not recommended PSI

as stated above.. this can vary depending on the car they are going on

ok 44 psi is max load running pressure. Honda states to set tire pressure cold.running pressure is 6-8 psi higher the cold setting which is were your car runs all day. SO setting the correct running pressure is the better way to set tire pressure.

it is always recommended to check tire pressure when the tires are COLD not hot -

since driving diff distances can affect the amount of pressure in the tires

dont believe me

READ THIS

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testin...sureFAQ.htm#q4

I’ve heard that the best time to get an accurate reading of tire pressure is when tires are “cold.” What is a “cold” tire?

While some people think that the term “cold” tire relates to the outside temperature, it really has nothing to do with the weather. It can be 90 degrees outside and your tires can still be considered cold. Rather, a cold tire is one that hasn’t been driven on for at least 3 hours, which is the optimal time to get an accurate pressure reading. A tire that has been driven on for short distances — even just 1 mile — is no longer considered “cold.”

SO to come FULL CIRCLE on this issue and to give CORRECT INFORMATION

the recommended COLD PSI ratings for that tire you want to run

would be between 32-35 PSI

TO ALSO CLEAR UP the misinformation here

the other poster was giving PSI ratings based on HOT measurements .. and as stated this is not the correct and accurate way to do it since those numbers can vary depending on how HOT the tire is

the COLD PSI number is STATIC .. so that is why it is recommended to check them cold - since it is the most accurate WAY .. which is why EVERY CAR MAKER gives you PSI ratings on the door based on COLD PSI measurement

its pretty SAD when an ASE certified mechanic is recommending that the best way to check tire pressure is when the tires are HOT ...

Until you can show me any sites or documents that recommend checking tire pressure when hot .. YOU ARE WRONG and are giving misinformation here

the recommended tire pressure for a 225 45 17 will be about the same as the STOCK TIRE SIZE which is 215 45 17 on an SI ... I would run the same numbers

and to further prove my point here - I have the HFPs in 18 ... they came with new labels to put on the door for tire pressure ratings for the 215 40 18 tires .. GUESS WHAT .. they LIST RECOMMENDED PRESSURE IN COLD PSI ratings and they happen to be the same 32 /35 PSI numbers as the stock 17s
