Not much...
I'd venture to guess you might see 8-10 Hp with a filter/exhaust change, if that. Without getting into the engine tuning, and increasing compression and changing camshafts, you're not going to get much more than that. Is it worth it? Not in & of itself if you think you're gonna get 50 hp and some huge seat-of-the pants power increase by changing out your exhaust and air filter. If you just feel like fooling with your civic for something to do and have no real expectations, perhaps. For what this stuff costs, if you're looking for a real power boost that you can actually feel (for brief drag-racing type purposes), consider adding a 50-75 hp shot of Nitrous oxide to the car. Coupled wth the air intake & exhaust mods (and a step or two colder spark plugs) you can reliably gain an additional 50-75 hp (for short periods of time). But that's a difference you will feel, and the cost really isn't that outlandish (especially if you consider the $800 some of these cat-back sysems cost, and $1000+ dollar race-headers.) Hans |

SO would that put my car at 154hp I don't think with mods such as an intake will outflow the factory exhaust piece. I would estimate you would free up 1-3 hp from lowering the intake restriction, and smoother flow. Same goes for the pully. No gain, just less restriction. |

intake in any form, will net you maybe 1-3hp,
a filter drop in like K&N maybe .5-1 hp. a full cat back maybe 3 hp, a straight pipe through the cat and a cat back maybe 5-6hp, an axel back maybe 1 hp. People these are single cam engines, they dont breath all that well their is no way a stock r18 will net 5-7 hp from an intake. companies that put out those dyno sheets are fudging with the dyno, temp, filter ect.. just turbo the car or leave it stock, you wont go fast at all from bolt ons. |

I only changed the muffler to a Borla "Wail Tail" muffler just to fill the BIG hole that the HFP rear body kit has on my sedan, I figured that was better than just putting in a simple muffler TIP on there but I know it does not give it tons of performace, I just have it for the looks and that the borla sounds sweet, just kinda like a stock g35 or 350z exhaust note. So I love my R18 for what it is, good looking and gas saving car |

for some reason i still have faith in these motors.. i'm not doing any motor work to mine yet because i can't justify putting an intake on it and not having the exhaust exit better because we can't put a header on the car at all.. once someone figures something out i think these motors will make some decent power, not insane power but something decent.

i kinda dissagree, hp on and full r18 exhaust wont go up much, but throttle response and top speed will. I just bought a JDM N1 full catback exhaust except for a header and i havnt topped it out yet, but it gets to 115 way faster than it used to, and thats not even in overdrive. I say i can get 120-125 out of her
