its a little filter that you can put on your valve cover to prevent blowby gases from being recirculated into your intake.

Thats the description I got from the site.

"A Bypass Valve filter helps your engine intake to have consistent air flow and prevent hydraulic-lock.
Many cases driving under heavy rain or wet floor, aftermarket cold air intake will often absorb the moist into the filter, having it unable to have air flow.
The bypass helps resolve that problem, by having a 2nd air filter."

yeah they say that on the website. Its a different filter meant to be placed in the CAI. In case the main filter gets absolutely soaked, then by principles of basic physics air will be sucked in through that ebay filter that is meant to be placed in the CAI under the hood.
-But that is different from the filter we are talking about.

The breather filter is not recomended. You need to suck in the oil fumes...
PCV : Positive Crankcase Ventalation. You need that positve pressure in the crankcase right?

These breathers are crap. I had them on my Si but there was so much damn blow by that I got tired of all the oil in the engine bay and bought a oil catch can...much better.

It actually creates a slight vacuum in the crankcase. It allows the engine to basically suck out any blowby fumes and any evaporated moisture which gets into your crankcase.

The only advantage of removing this hose from your intake and installing a seperate filter for it is to stop your engine from sucking these inert (meaning non-combustable) gases into your engine. However, the difference is probably less then you will ever notice. Plus you run the risk of having more fuel and water build up in your oil (from blowby and condensation in your crankase). However this difference is also probably small.
