2006 Honda Civic (Coupe EX) Question...

Lately, everytime i'm stopped or at a light, there's a rough idle - should I be concerned? I notice this before. I'm thinking about calling to schedule an appointment but I wanted to know if I should even care?

My 06 lx 5spd does the same thing. Maybe honda just put stiffer motor mounts in these cars.

Try stopping somewhere when it is doing it and lift the hood. Is the engine shaking? What does it sound like? How is you gas mileage? Are you in a cold climate? How many miles on the car? Is this a recent development or has it always been that way? Honda is pretty picky about NHV. I have not noticed any roughness with our EX Coupe.

I'm sorry, forgot to mention - When I adjust the steering wheel (while in idle), like plainly move it, the vibration stops for a few seconds and the resumes. I'm also noticing, it doesn't vibrate when i'm stopped when the steering wheel is at an angle, like say i'm stopped at a stop sign turning right or left.

*I was involved in an accident, woman hit me on the passenger side. I never noticed this before the accident, so I'm assuming it is because of the accident - but the collision place said it's a warranty problem. And I specifically told them I never felt the car like this before the accident. All that was damaged in the wreck was the passenger door, and the air bags (obviously) needed to be replaced - As of now, I have over 5000 miles on the car. I do live in a Colorado, but even though it's getting cold, this was when it was still warm.

could be one of these:

Valve adjustment
Incorrect ignition timing,
Vacuum leaks
Bad ignition wires
Incorrect idle speed

A good place to start would be an inspection of the spark plugs, plug
wires, ignition timing, and idle speed. Next would be valve adjustment.
Don't overlook the simple things.

you might need an oil change. Mine used to vibrate a little when the oil got old. The vibration going away when you turn the steering wheel is due to the RPM's going up since you don't have electric steering like the SI.

If it only happens after the accident take it to the dealer right away and have your insurance add it to the bill. You should be able to do it without having to pay the deductable. Talk to your insurance first.

bingo!!! you got it.
my ex coupe did this, so the morning i was to take it in for its first oil change, i printed the TSB, and handed it to the service manager. they did not know anything about it, had to order the other belt. belt came in overnight so they put it on the next day. the funny thing is the car seems faster since the new belt is on, and it doesn't have that odd vibration anymore.

Darn should've checked the replies. I went to the dealership explaining my problem. They said they fixed it with a ECM/PCM update & that I should change where I get my gas. Nothing about a belt or anything. Where did you all get this information? Where would i check my VIN #? Thanks.

Just got my car in this afternoon for the fix and it runs som much better and smooter now. Just give the dealer this information and they should not have a problem doing it. Its covered under warranty. "A Honda Service Bulletin (06-059) advised replacing the serpentine belt with a longer one and re-routing it a different way around the pulleys."

Can any Honda Service Department do this or only the place I got it from? Also, is it for any 2006 Honda Civic or are there any specifics? Thanks.

EDIT:

MordeKyle, and anyone else interested, here's the link to the Service Bulletin:

I am reading the bulletin right.. it states

(for coupes) 2dr Except SI and DX

From VIN 2HGFG1...6H500001 thru
2HGFG....6H577124

my question is.. does that mean EX and LX coupes from 00001 to 77124?
