Civic EX Prices in Texas
Aviod Mckinney Honda in DFW area also ... On top of options they have a 3k market premium on the Civics on the lot - That is why they had three new Hybrids for sale. I test drove a vehicle but the numbers were so ridiculous off sticker... 21k plus 3k Market Premium plus 1400 in options $25,400 plus a significantly deflated trade. Lute Riley was fair (also said I was not the first person to comment on Mckinney Honda's Market Adjustment)... Bought an EX-L at Howdy in Austin for 21,900 out the door including with a fair trade... the 21,900 also included financing an additional $1000 for upside down financing so actual price was 20,900.

Go see Tabitha at Frank Kent Honda. She used to work in the oil and gas biz. She sold 15 cars in June (her first month). And when you call her about a problem, she will call you right back.
As far as the price, expect to pay close to MSRP anywhere. Civics are hard to find in Texas! I got an excellent trade-in value for my Prelude (close to KBB) (And my Prelude was about $6,000 to $7,000 which is what I've seen some of the same year, 99, S-Class Mercedes selling for!) Just proves, HONDA HOLDS THEIR VALUE! (Prelude with 100K vs Mercedes S Class at 100k) eBay Motors: Mercedes-Benz : S-Class (item 220258828903 end time Jul-25-08 05:47:07 PDT) Last edited by Braniff; 07-25-2008 at 11:48 PM. |

I bought mine for a shade over 19k (ex w/o navi no ext warranty)...but that was a year ago before people started shitting themselves about gas prices.
I've got a buddy at a honda dealership that says lx's are starting for more...welcome to the gas crunch! EDIT: oops! I'm in the San Antonio area. and x2 with what Gene J said, dealerships are having no problems whatsoever selling civics, so unfortunately the ball is in their court. They don't really need you to buy. The WSJ even touched on it Why a used Civic still costs $16,118 - MSN Money Bueno Last edited by bueno4x4; 07-29-2008 at 12:07 PM. |

I got my '06 LX Sedan (MT) in San Antonio for approx $17,200 OTD and that was with no trade in to reduce taxes. I don't remember the cost of just the car itself, but it was under MSRP...I used the Costco program. Prior to finding out about that program the best # I'd gotten was about 1K over MSRP and a 6 week wait and that was 2 years ago when gas prices were only slightly annoying (high $2 range).
I also agree with Braniff about Honda's holding their value. I was trying to trade in my '98 Prelude with 90K miles, but because of minor hail damage on nearly every body panel, some engine damage (long story), and the immediate need for a timing belt replacement the dealerships wouldn't touch it. I still got $6K for it (wholesale value) at CarMax though. |

I bought a 2008 LX automatic coupe a few weeks ago. I found the car that I wanted at two different dealerships in Alabama. I told them both that I would buy the following day from the dealership that offered me the best price. While they were "resistant" to come too far off the sticker price, I was able to get out the door (all dock fees and taxes included in the out the door price) for 18,400.
This is my first experience at having to pay anything close to the sticker price, but the salesman that I bought from was fairly new and said that this was the first time he had seen them come down in price. No reason for him to lie since he said it after we paid, I guess. Every dealership we visited had a "take it or leave it" attitude. One even told me that if I did not buy it that day, someone else would come in and buy it the next day. I finally got on the phone and told them that I was doing the deal the next day somewhere and that if they wanted my business they needed to go ahead and give me their best price over the phone. I really don't feel like I saved much, though. Sticker price was 18,600 because it had a few extras. I guess I saved on taxes and fees and all, though. I also got the 2.9 percent financing, so I saved a good bit there. |

Just bought an EX Coupe in Austin for ~21,000 OTD. Base with window tint, no other options. If you are looking for an LX, the best offer I got was 18,900 OTD, no options. I called all the dealers around Austin, San Antonio and Houston. The local dealer here matched it. Hope this helps :)
PS woo hoo my first post - spent the whole night here trying to figure out if I want to buy one...lol. If you want names, let me know! |
