2nd Gear....

Broke 3000 miles and I decided to check out what this baby could do.

started out normally in 1st, then I hit it....grabbed second....but the tires didn't chirp

I'm a bit curious because my 2005 nissan frontier (2.5L 4cyl) chirped 2nd gear all the time and the gears even felt tall

Can you guys chirp your tires in 2nd gear? Kinda of a ricey question, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I've got a LX coupe manual

I can in my Si...In a non-Si you might not be able to. I have to kind of work at it...I mean redline and then shift superfast into second and mash the gas to get my tires to chirp...running summer tires...

Actually, come to think of it the non-si doesn't have LSD so it should be easier to chirp (only one tire actually spins/chirps)

Chirping the tires in 2nd gear is almost as easy as chirping them in 1st gear. When shifting from 1st to 2nd, just over rev and release the clutch rather fast or even dump it and you'll get a chirp.

My EX Sedan Will chirp in 2nd and 3rd when your on it hard. Also it dosent have the LSD. But dont tell mine that. When you lauch it hard, both front wheels will boil out the smoke. Leaves two even black marks.

I don't know, i've never chirped my tires in my dx-g shifting from 1 to 2nd, welll only when it was raining out. Pickup trucks are easy to chirp because the bed is lighter, less weight on the rear wheels.

Ok, the guys with the Si's need not apply. Your cars have a boat load more hp and tq.
The guys with non-Si's. Yea, without over-revving you can chirp 2nd if you shift hard enough. But without nearly bald tires, there is no way you are chirpin 3rd unless you are jamming around a turn. Sorry, just isnt going to to happen. Once again, this is on even half way decent tire.
My gutted JDM B16 Si hatch with all the bolt ons, cams, and ECU upgrade on decent tire hardly ever chirped 3rd. If you can do it in a car with significantly less power, and tons more weight then make a constant video showing the outside of your car, including tires, then getting into your car, and chirping 3rd and I will paypal you money. Thats just how sure I am you guys arent chirping 3rd.

X2, there is no way that the R18 can chirp 3rd, i was gonna call bs on that guy, but didn't want to be harsh.

I chirped 2nd once in my EX MT. It was after I got pulled over for speeding and after the cop pulled away I let her rip. I don't drive like that often.

Your lucky the cop didn't give you another ticket for chirping your tires, i don't know the laws everywhere, but its about 75CND here.

Being able to chirp the tires with an R18 Civic is simply a result of crappy all season tires and a fresh clutch. The clutch grabs hard and the tires slip. Give it a few thousand miles when your clutch is worn in and swap a grippy set of tires and it won't chirp. You could chirp the tires in beat up old Geo Metro if it had a perfomance clutch and bald tires.

Besides, since when is chirping your tires a measure of speed, power or driving ability? It is irrelivent just like "How many fingers is your drop?"

Watch this guy getting on the freeway, and try telling him that he just has bald, all season tires, and a grabby clutch. I think it has more to do with something else.

It could either be your tires, clutch, or you just arent shifting fast enough. Yea, redline, then as fast as your possibly can without damaging anything, get on and off the clutch into 2nd gear.

I'm not the type of guy that just trys to chirp every time i shift from 1st to 2nd, its just that some of the R18 claim that they have so i wanted to try. Yah my car has around 6000km on it and i can tell that clutch is worn in. There is really no point in shifting hard when your not racing ne ways.
