My journey to build the ultimate daily driver // 2008 FA5

2008 Honda Civic Si FA5

Hello guys, I have decided that I am going to keep and build my 2008 Si Sedan. Therefore, I figured I better put together a build thread. The car is sitting for the most part over the cold winter here in North Dakota, which gives me a lot of down time to build my idea of the ultimate daily driver.

For a quick bio on me, my name is Tyler Klein. I recently ended my hockey career after a year playing minor professional hockey. Hockey has been and still is a massive part of my life. I am the assistant manager/scheduler at a hockey rink and coach. My 2nd car, which really taught me how to wrench on cars, was a 95 AWD Eagle Talon Tsi. Stupid fast, and always broken. I graduated college with a Graphic Design degree. Graphic Design is such a wide-open field and I focused mostly on logo design and photography. As of the last few years I've really gotten into detailing as well. With more time away from hockey now, I focus my extra time towards my Si and the automotive scene. I like the thought of eventually being my own Graphic Designer, and I think things like detailing, photography and graphic design all have a way of going hand in hand.

I like working on my rig if I feel like it's a task I can handle and I enjoy taking on DIY projects. The only thing I haven't installed is my Invidia Race Header.

I suppose it is worth throwing a picture up in order to keep/bring some attention now! Current mod list to follow

Quick little mini update here.

Sold my 17x8 Weapons tonight. Keeping the tires for my next set of wheels. Not sure what they are going to be yet, but I'm leaning towards Avid.1 AV-20 wheels.

Finished up wrapping the speedometer garnish/trim piece in dark charcoal Alcantara. Turned out great and should provide great contrast once it is back installed.

Last pic of my MBs and my stockers all clean and sealed before being put on for winter

It's going to be a fun build and I'm enjoying doing some of the little things over the cold months.

As for pictures of the spoiler, this is all I could find for older pictures. If you want closer up shots, I will get some of those this weekend! The spoiler is nice and subtle, which I really like.

Did you wrap your center console with a cloth-like material?

I wrapped it with black microsuede.

My intention was to wrap it with the black microsuede for practice and then re-wrap with Genuine Alcantara, and I wish I would have just waited until I got the Alcantara.

It's not that I don't like the look of the Microsuede, it is just too thin, and tough to work with, and it fades in the sun. The center console will eventually be re-done.

It looks nice in the pic... I have an Si 2dr and my seats rub on my center console when i move them back and forth... years of doing created wear spots on my center console. If this wasn't the case I would have wrapped my center console in carbon fiber, I dig the carbon look.....

Wrapped my key fob in 3m 1080 matte red vinyl a couple nights back. Just experimenting with the vinyl and seeing how it would turn out.

I like it and the 3m vinyl is very easy to work with.

A good look at all my photography equipment. All of my photos from here on out will be shot with my Nikon d3300 or GoPro Hero 4 Silver. Love them both. I have shot with some nicer SLR cameras before, but I like the D3300. I figure a lot more goes into photography than just the equipment, so I picked it up on Black Friday. iPhone pic because the other cameras were on the floor!

Stock ride height? Swift sport springs might be a good fit.

Yes, I am currently at stock ride height. Swift sport springs always seem to come to mind, and I think when I do adjust my ride height I will go with those springs. Tein springs are the only other spring I've considered.

Thank you, sir! Been a great ride so far. We've been in the deep freeze here lately in Fargo coming in around -18F so I haven't been up to much with the car.

Well, slow week. It's still cold here and not a lot going on with the Si. It hasn't even left the garage.

Since we all know pictures are what were here for. Here are a couple pictures of the detailing and interior work I did for a friend of mine on his 1986 Porsche 944. It sure is an amazing cruiser

Washed, clayed, and lightly corrected/sealed with HD Speed on a white LC pad

Honda Factory Performance front under spoiler came in the mail yesterday, and it is beautiful. Trying to find a good day to get it installed. Too dang cold here still. Waiting for a nice day to also get some pictures to showcase some of my interior goodies as well

Stay Tuned!

HFP front lip and TRS led xb fog lights will be installed next week!

If you haven't used it already... try using Primer 94 by 3M. Helps allot with those tight corners (for the vinyl app).

Love your car man. I am throwing on some rally armor mudflaps on my whip tomorrow, partially because one of my oems got ripped off and I had these laying around; and partially because your car looks nice with them haha

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words! The mud flaps have been very functional for me as it keeps the amount of snow that builds up in the wheel wells down to almost nothing. Glad to know other guys are putting them on!
