Question for those in Alberta
I was driving through a playground zone today and the police were clocking everyone using radars. With my luck, they got me going 48km/h. The officer said she would let me off with only 40km/h in a 30 zone. Also, I'm 17 and am currently registered as an occasional driver on my mom's insurance. The question I have is that will my insurance be affected when I buy it by myself this August? I also have the driver's training which supposedly gives me 10% off of my insurance, will this driver's training course not have an effect anymore on my insurance? Thanks...I feel terrible right now cause my insurance was supposed to be $4000 per year, I just hope it doesn't have to go up because of this...

I was in a similar situation as you way back when I first started driving. Not a playground zone.. but still a speeding ticket.
I was and still am with my parents simply because it's cheaper that way. Yes, driving school (in class) will lower your insurance a good amount... better than nothing. I know for a fact that since you're with your mom, yes the insurance will be increased. As for getting it by yourself, I'm not too sure. I would assume, don't take my word for it, that since the ticket is under your name, when moving over to your own insurance, it will affect it. |
