Debating if I should quit my morning job

Advanced Glazing Systems Ltd.

I'm a fabricator for this company and I don't really make that much. I work here for a couple of years and it's just getting worse and worse.

When I first started I only made like 11 bucks an hours which was back in 2006, fast forward to today and I'm making roughly about 13 bucks an hour.

My job is quite simple but heavy at times.

YouTube - AGS

Here's a video clip of it. I basicly cut metal in all sorts of shapes and sizes during an 8 hour shift.

But now they're trying to change everything in my work place to make it more efficient. But with that being said, everyone has to work like dogs cause of a few changes. Basicly they're throwing down more tasks on me to make more work efficient (a.k.a multi-tasking like mad). Everyone else inside the company isn't too happy about the changes either.

That's one reason why I want to leave this job.

2nd reason would have to be the work environment. I'm getting more sick by the day cause there's barely any ventilation inside the factory, it's retardly stupid. I cut metal all day long and it causes a lot of dust and particles floating around. It's no joke either, when it's a nice sunny day, the rays from the sun can barely make it thru down to the factory cause of the dust.

Cliff notes:

-want to quit morning job
-company makes changes for work efficiency, everyone works like dogs
-factory is polluted, barely any ventilation

__________________________________________________ ___

Bottom line:

Pretty much I don't care about the wage, but I rather worry about my health instead which is why I'm debating if I should quit.

I already have a 2nd part time job to back up my income, which is delivering pizza for panago.

hey to you

For health reasons I would quit as well, but make the pot a bit sweeter and contact heatlh canada to have them look into the work enviroment. No one should have to work under those conditions.

hey im having a HR midterm soon what a coincidence
im pretty sure there are some legal issues with this. read up on the Employment Standards Act, and the Health and Safety Legislation.

make your concerns known to management (optional: and file a complaint to the work standards people) if they dont do anything then you should totally quit. you dont make enough to have to put up with all that

Quit. Why?

Poor work environment.
Low wage.
Not happy with the current changes.

I have just re-iterated on what you said.

If you hate the job, yeah, I'd say quit.

Start looking for a new one right now though. If you can line something up before you quit, so much the better.

Good luck man, let us know how things work out!

I used to work in a wood panel plant. I was sick a lot. Lots of dust and smoke is not a healthy place to work either. Now that I am no longer there, I rarely get sick.
So I say quit for your health.
