This is why North Van sucks

Hollllyyy craaaaaap. I haaaaate snow (on the roads). Here's a story of how I got stuck for an hour and a half up 29th Street (basically a pretty steep street in North Van). Pretty stupid of me to decide to take that way home after school, oi.

Very very scary situation. When I started going up the street I already knew I was screwed, not even halfway up the hill I started losing traction and basically got stuck in the middle of the street. I ended up beside a TL who slid into a curb earlier. I didn't bother to move and try to go back down the hill or I'll probably slide into him, we were pretty close. So I no choice but to stay there and wait for a plow to come, which the guy said should come soon. The whole street had cars stuck everywhere, a SUV hit a van not far from where I was.

So yeah, stuck in the middle of the street on a steep hill with snow still pounding down. Just great. Ok, here's the scary part... A few minutes after I got out of the car to talk to the locals who live on there, a car starting flying down from the top the hill. Realizing he's screwed up the a-hole, he hits the brakes only to find himself sliding sideways down the hill. Remember how my car was basically in the middle of the street? Yes, it narrowly missed my rear end and countinued down the hill! Fakkkk it was close. But wait, that's not it. How stupid enough but ANOTHER car came from over the hill, only to end up exactly like the first car (well besides the woman in this car screaming her ass off. I'm serious, she was FREAKING OUT). Again, narrowly missing my ass and slid right down the hill. I was expecting a huge boom as the first car was still on the bottom sliding slowly. OMG that was the closest I've seen two cars go by each other sliding sideways, more exciting than dorifto guys, serious.

Buuut. That's not the end folks, nope. After all that. Alllll that. To top the cake off, the scariest thing happened.......
My car started sliding backwards, yes, down the hill. Not only that though, but with my girlfriend still in the car! Hoollllllly shieeeeeeet.
LUCKILY, the TL was a little higher up the hill so I completely missed him.
LUCKILY my wheel was turned to the right which made the car slide not into the street, but into the curb.
LUCKILY there was a curb there and nothing else for my car to safely slide into and stop from sliding any further.
And LUCKILY the curb wasn't too high so there was no damage done to the rear lip, wheels, suspension and exhaust.
Jesuuuus, no idea how many beats my heart skipped for that half hour or so. I had no intention moving my car after all that until the street was clear.

Ended up waiting another hour or so for the plow to come and had some help pushing my car out into the street after the street was reasonably cleared.
Luckily I made it up my own street this time and didn't have to park on the street. Screw this, the car's staying garaged until Spring.

Drive safe guys.

Pics!

I was here.

.... and ended up here.

The TL.

Top of the hill. The two dorifto-ed from up here. SUV hitting the van on the right.

Bottom of the hill, closed off.

I've lived here bascally all my life (which isn't really that long, haha) and I don't remember it ever being this bad before. According the people I talked to today, this is the worst it's ever been.
But I'm sure in any winter condition my car would be the same, heh. I'm running crap stock all seasons which are also my track tires. I need to get some decent tires, I know.

Yeah, but isn't driving in Richmond just as hazardous to your car's safety as driving in a crazy snowstorm in which people can't see anything and are out of control?
